As we were shooting 'The Bible,' we knew there was another story in here.
Roma Downey, actress ... "Son of God," a two-hour movie highlighting key events in Jesus' life, ministry and death, to open nationally on Feb.
... retelling the well-known Old Testament stories of Noah and "Exodus," featuring the great flood and Moses leading the children of Israel from Egypt.
Is the 2014 release of Bible-themed films a trend? "It certainly looks like it," ... "There are more of these films coming out ...
But the reasons for Hollywood's recent embrace of the Bible vary from seeing the good book as a vehicle for great storytelling to a more deliberate purpose of using the powerful medium of film to spread a religious message.
Mark Burnett, producer of the "Son of God," said he expects the film "to be a conversation starter" ... some principals may not have imagined. "The disciples didn't know they were going to end up in the Bible," he said. "They were merely following Jesus."
Sacred, secular inspiration
The theatrical release of "Son of God" has its roots in the hugely popular 2013 TV miniseries "The Bible."...
Studio vice chairman Rob Moore, an evangelical Christian, told The Hollywood Reporter the...
By contrast, 20th Century Fox's "Exodus,"... appears to be more faithful to its biblical narrative, found in its eponymous Old Testament book.
Expected to be released on Dec. 12, the film is Ridley Scott's retelling of the children of Israel's liberation from Egyptian slavery,.....
For "Son of God," advance work to boost the opening box office is a key strategic element. Downey and Burnett urged the Washington, D.C., preview audience ...to encourage people to pack theaters when the film opens.

Actually, you sound like a bigot by pointing out Catholic connections and I have no qualms calling you a bigot either.
The funny thing is that the "Bible" mini-series and Roma Downey (also in Touched by an Angel), has done more to bring others to Christ than you ever will in your entire lifetime and yet you key your Catholic hatred and seem content wallowing in it.
are you a human being?
and in a hoody - makes me giggle
Actually, the film is an adaptation of the mini series, not simply the mini series edited into a motion picture, as you seemed to write. It looks very good and I will definetly pay to see it.

Downey and her Hollywood pals are liberal to the core.
The minute I read she “consulted” grinning Joel Osteen and New Age Rick Warren AND Cardinal Donald the liberal Wuerl, I knew the mini-series and copy and paste movie would be no good. It made money because it had no competition.
You need to ask yourself why you don’t like movies like
Gospel John that the script is 100% from scripture. Nothing invented by the liberal Hollywood crowd.
I repeat they have done more to bring people to Christ than you will ever do in your lifetime.
I thought FR was a website for conservative, not liberals. There are plenty of liberal “Christians” on other sites that eat up New Age Wonder Rick Warren and the grinning wonder boy Osteen. Maybe you can find one.
Another thing the devil does not have a body and never will he is an evil spirit or should we a form of substance.
Agreed.
So it’s New Age Jesus and Noah the Eco-Nut?
I don’t’ know but some of it is creepy...
