Why is Glenn Beck wrong to support abortion in cases of rape, incest? In short: me.

Feb. 14, 2014 (MonicaKelsey) - When someone says, "I am pro-life except in the case of rape or incest," they are using an oxymoron to describe themselves. This is in essence describing themselves as pro-choice and shows they have a lack of understanding of what being pro-life is truly about. Glenn Beck, who my husband listens to almost daily, is a good example of someone who is highly intelligent, but lacks the understanding of what it means to be pro-life with no exceptions. Let me explain.

First of all, let me tell you about who I am. I am a medic and a firefighter from Indiana. Four years ago at the age of 37 I reconnected with my birth mother, who placed me for adoption at birth. The information she entrusted me with the day we reconnected has changed the course of my life forever.

My birth mother was brutally raped at 17 and as a result became pregnant with me. But in 1972 my life was protected by a law that said that my life had value. And even though the law was in place, protecting me, my birth-mother succumbed to the pressure of carrying a child conceived out of rape and found herself at a back alley abortion clinic at the advice of her mother.

While standing in front of the man who was going to take my life, my birth mother changed her mind. She left this clinic and never looked back. Her mother hid her from the outside world. She gave birth to me and never even looked at me. But she gave me the greatest gift I have ever received, on top of my life. She gave me an amazing family. And for that I will forever be grateful.

1- “His faith journey took him to the majority of protestant denominations in this country. “
____

I agree with you on this I was on a quest for 18 years looking those things mention in the Bible which I found in the Mormons of all places. but before that if I had not found it I would have most likely became Catholic I really have no comfort in the Protestant prideful. arrogant demeanor it is totally opposite feeling of Love I feel coming from many Catholics.

Now you in all due respect are still crusty but that is baggage left over from your former residents.:)
____

2- “I will never forget what he told him about converting. He said “some of your friends will leave you, some will be family members”. He goes on to say they do this because of their lack of knowledge of Catholicism, and that most had been brow-beaten their entire life into believing that Catholic were not Christian.”
_______

Well that is the same problem I am having there are those who left the faith and will do everything possible to paint it in the worst way possible, poison the water etc.

When I left the protestant world I never felt the need to campaign against them, also that kind of behavior is not what a child of God should be doing.

I think one can have discussions it is healthy but some never want to discuss they just want vent, but it is a never ending rage towards something, when they could use that precious time the Lord gave them making the world a better place.

I listen to chiropractor one time who has a lot of wisdom about health and discernment about the truth of some things.

He was talking about bad bacteria which are living organism which you can not kill really ever destroy, and it does take up a lot of terrain like bad bacteria will, and they really cannot be killed off, but what one can do build the friendy bacteria so they take over most of the real estate.

Yes I know of several “rape survivors”

One spoke at a church once...

She was 16 and pretty and it was Wednesday night..

her family went off to church but she stayed home as she had a load of homework and needed to study ...

Her father had excused her presence at church and she settled down to study in the 2 hours her family would be gone.

an intruder broke into the house and raped her, an innocent virgin girl..

when she discovered she was pregnant, there was never any discussion about whether or not the “DNA” was a child or whether or not she was going to carry the child and give birth to her BABY...

she did have the baby, and kept her or him...at home with her parents..

she forgave the rapist and her family did too and they supported her and loved her through the next few months and later..

Everyone knew she was pregnant...she didn’t hide the fact why would she ???

she finished high school and college and had a career and married a man who is good to her and the child and went on to have a successful happy life in spite of what someone else had done to her...

when she spoke at our church she said that her child had helped her heal..emotionally and psychologically ...she didn’t go insane...

that the added burden of the load of guilt from being a murderess would have been too much for her and would have destroyed her life..

if she had murdered her baby she would never have had the happy life she was experiencing..

her life would have come to a halt...not because of the rape but because of her own sin against God and her crime against her own natural instincts..

That’s what a rape victim had to say..

Abuse ???

I merely repeated what a lady said in church...

she was invited there to speak..

a packed house gave her a standing ovation..

there wasn’t a dry eye in the house..

I told the truth about a rape victim I knew of personally...

You asked for input..

Her story was awe inspiring ..a triumph over evil..

the woman is whole today in her mind and in her life..

and she didn’t have to murder her baby to achieve that..

rape is one thing...horrifying...I know that personally..

but if the rape results in a pregnancy murdering the baby will not eliminate the pain of the memory of the rape...

abortion brings its own set of horrors and evil memories..

I didn’t attack you...

I was telling about a brave woman whom I had heard speak about her life..

You kept asking for examples..

This is an "open" thread in the Religion Forum. Posters may argue for or against their beliefs.

Obviously this is not workable for you, so leave the thread and I will remove your post that started all of this and at least some of the replies.

Chris37:

Another splendid example of why libertarian nonsense ought not to be confused with the rich tapestry of actual conservatism.

There are literally thousands of people in this country who, as you suggest, attempt to peacefully persuade pregnant women, who are initially inclined to abort, NOT to abort. Often, but not often enough, they are successful. They are called "sidewalk counselors" ad they try to convince women entering the abortion mills. Last minute "saves" so to speak. In sports terms, leaping into the outfield stands with outstretched glove to spear what would otherwise be a home run for the abortionist and his/her master below.

Whether to rob a bank is a choice of the perp. So is whether to mug an old lady and whether to act in defense of another. All "choices" are not created equal.

The sidewalk counselors with whom I am privileged to be acquainted would not agree with the thrust of your libertarian "do what you please" argument. When their persuasive efforts are unsuccessful, they suffer and blame themselves for failing. When they succeed, they give that victory to God as His own and thank him for the privilege of being useful to Him.

Your real argument is contained in YOUR OWN WORDS: "Really, the fact of the matter is, it's none of your business at all, genius, so why don't you butt out, genius." After that statement, you have no standing to claim to be pro-life or to whine about others' accurate observations that you are a pro-abort, whatever fantasy it may please and comfort you to believe otherwise.

I often have disagreements with some of those whom I have pinged to this post but agree totally with those who have correctly labeled you a pro-abort.

Now you may return to your Planned Barrenhood fundraiser.

Jim Noble:

My answer to your question is that I would vote for the bill you describe while making plain that I am coming back at every opportunity to further improve the law by outlawing each and every other abortion. To do otherwise is to fail to save those who can be saved by law and to fail to come back to outlaw the earlier abortions is to abandon those younger babies. Thus to do otherwise is to fail morally.

Well, tell ya what? Since I did not know ‘no replies’
was an invalid request, go ahead and remove MY replies, and anyone who replied to my name’s replies.

I really want all trace of this gone because 3 people
could not leave it alone. Take off every reply that has my name in the ‘from’ or ‘to’, ok? Understand?

I just checked that my monthly donation is still in force,
so let’s give some consideration to a dedicated member, OK?

Thanks.

It took a longer time for William Wilberforce, as a member of Parliament, to achieve abolition of slavery in the British Empire by legislation than it has taken pro-lifers to overturn your cherished evil of Roe vs. Wade but overturn it we will.

Under Roe vs. Wade, the mother is legally, but never morally, allowed to effect the murder of her own unborn child with the willing connivance of the murderer who is the abortionist. What are you personally doing to thwart such decisions by those mothers and to thwart the "business" of the abortionists in trading in death of the babies for money?

I didn't think so.

During the Tate-LaBianca murders, according to what passes for your logic, it was Charles Manson's decisions that determined that Sharon Tate and the Folger Coffee heiress and the LaBiancas and others must die and that no other laws or decisions matter. That is what you are applauding when you raise the aborting mother's decisions to the level of absolute supremacy.

Also consider that abortion would be a LOT less available if we stripped the "doctors" of their licenses and put them in jail where they belong. That was the traditional solution to abortion.

This nation needs to replace enough pro-abort SCOTUS justices (including Sandra Day O'Kennedy) with enough committed and bulletproof pro-life SCOTUS justices to overturn the infamous Roe vs. Wade decision once and for all. Then the "rule of law" and "stare decisis" will take care of and eliminate the legal protection of baby murders.

Will there still be abortions? Of course, there will be "back alley" abortions, some by qualified surgeons and some not. The numbers of abortions will bne drastically slashed. The tactics used by Operation Rescue to identify the killing days at abortion mills will then be employed by pro-lifers to root out the outlaw abortionists and see that they are arrested and prosecuted. "Licensed" doctors can be stripped of their licenses without jury trials.
