Why is Glenn Beck wrong to support abortion in cases of rape, incest? In short: me.

Feb. 14, 2014 (MonicaKelsey) - When someone says, "I am pro-life except in the case of rape or incest," they are using an oxymoron to describe themselves. This is in essence describing themselves as pro-choice and shows they have a lack of understanding of what being pro-life is truly about. Glenn Beck, who my husband listens to almost daily, is a good example of someone who is highly intelligent, but lacks the understanding of what it means to be pro-life with no exceptions. Let me explain.

First of all, let me tell you about who I am. I am a medic and a firefighter from Indiana. Four years ago at the age of 37 I reconnected with my birth mother, who placed me for adoption at birth. The information she entrusted me with the day we reconnected has changed the course of my life forever.

My birth mother was brutally raped at 17 and as a result became pregnant with me. But in 1972 my life was protected by a law that said that my life had value. And even though the law was in place, protecting me, my birth-mother succumbed to the pressure of carrying a child conceived out of rape and found herself at a back alley abortion clinic at the advice of her mother.

While standing in front of the man who was going to take my life, my birth mother changed her mind. She left this clinic and never looked back. Her mother hid her from the outside world. She gave birth to me and never even looked at me. But she gave me the greatest gift I have ever received, on top of my life. She gave me an amazing family. And for that I will forever be grateful.

“I’m not aware of any pro-abortion Catholic politicians who give much of THEIR OWN money to the Church. But they do give taxpayers’ money to the Church”

That’s what I meant.

Worshipers of Mormonism have to be nice, they are striving to become Gods after death.

If you have seen the glorious temples of the Mormons, you might not know that the average Mormon cannot enter them, you have to have a temple license to enter one and participate, one the requirements for that is a confirmed giving of 10% of your income to Mormonism.

Ann Romney’s parents couldn’t witness their own daughter’s wedding, and had to wait outside.

Pope Pius XII was baptized three times into Mormonism and is “sealed” in eternal marriage to a Mrs Eugenio Pacelli.

Mormonism is not what you think it is, remember that Harry Reid isn’t just a “Mormon”, he is a verified and recognized member of the most devout Mormons.

In the last 50 years I have not heard of any Catholic Church like the one you described. A sermon, you mean Mass, on hell and damnation? Never heard a Mass in my life like that. I wish I would. Mean nuns and a priest that beat you? Not saying discipline was not dished out. I got my ass beat regularly in school and it taught me respect and manners.

Are you sure you were not attending a sect that called themselves Catholic, one that was not in communion with the Catholic Church. There is a a lot of them out there.

I am just not familiar with that Catholic Church you describe. Maybe in the 16th century.

That’s one of those neat theories which will never happen in real life.

BG is a Mormon. That means, fundamentally, that he has no opening to actually find God's Salvation while immersed in Mormonism. As the ism changes directions for expediency sake, men like GB will also change directions for expediency of relationship to the ism.

I know a woman that was raped and had an abortion. She told me she regretted her decision every day and wished she had given the baby up for adoption instead. She had made the decision 6 years before I met her and said she regretted it immediately but did not admit it out loud for several years, trying to come to terms with it but she never
did.

Many seem to think abortion is a solution for this or that problem. The thing is often the women who get abortions, no matter the reason find it was the wrong answer. It is not something that can be undone.

I didn’t say I thought highly of Mormonism. I think it’s crazy.

I don’t care what motivates people to be good people. I give them credit for it.

I have never met a cult member who wasn’t friendly and nice to me, especially the Hare Krishnas, you should see how friendly the moonie girls are, and the Children of God cult used to be.

You are so good at scenarios...what if a married woman is raped and becomes pregnant...is convinced the baby is her husband’s so carries it to term and delivers the baby. Lets say after the birth of her baby she decides to get DNA done and finds the baby was actually fathered by the rapist. Is it ok for her to murder that baby?

Abortion is murder of a living baby, that baby is alive inside the mother...babies do not suddenly become alive after they are born or at some magical date.

Well, I don’t disagree with anything you said except the likelihood that Roe v Wade will be overturned.

I just don’t see that happening in this country, and further I personally do not support a law which would force a woman to bear the child of the man that raped her.

I believe bearing that child is a decision that she must make and should make. I also believe that she have the ability to choose otherwise, even though I believe such a decision is indeed a tragic one.

I also believe that rape should result in the death penalty being considered on a case by case basis.

Well think they should be illegal except in the case of rape or incest.

I certainly hope that were that the case it wouldn’t result in a walk up industry of people claiming every instance was an instance of rape and incest. I wouldn’t know what to say of people if that abused such a provision in that way, but I do agree that it’s possible that they would.

I can’t, however, support a law which would force a rape victim to bear the child if she did not make the decision to do so herself.

That isn’t something that sounds or feels right to me.

No, it wouldn’t be okay, and I’ve never claimed that abortion isn’t murder.

It is.

I don’t support mid or late term abortions under any scenario. If it’s to be done then it must be done very early.

Certainly I would hope that she would choose to do otherwise, but that isn’t my decision to make, nor is it anyone else’s but hers.

Immaculate conception school and church Omaha, Ne. Fr Ed and FR John During mass they give a sermon or a homily. 10-15 minutes of talking. My cousin Tony has strap marks on his back to this day. I was only picked up by my hair and another time slapped in front of everyone and put in a closet because the nun said I ate before communion. She overheard my grandmother ask if I had breakfast before school. I did not. I could go on.

Do you really believe what your saying or are you really that naive?

It is ultimately the murderer’s decision to murder in any case, that does not mean it should be legal or that it is not other people’s business. Early, middle, late...meaningless; it is still murder. Supporting early or midterm abortion is like saying it is ok to murder children, possibly teens; but not adults.

Five minutes ago, I could’ve seen Beck’s point.

But not now.

She changed my mind.

May she change many more minds with that powerful testimony.

***

There is such a thing as agency, a rape or incest violates another will so they do have a choice to exercise their agency.

Would it not be best for all when one is in this situation to allow the child to live and if one can not keep the child, allow the child to be adopted.

“I personally do not support a law which would force a woman to bear the child of the man that raped her”

Then you are for abortions in cases of rape. I thought you were. Well I am against all abortion, for any reason, and pray that the day will come when they will all be outlawed and this country will stop slaughtering it’s own.
