Immaculate conception school and church Omaha, Ne. Fr Ed and FR John During mass they give a sermon or a homily. 10-15 minutes of talking. My cousin Tony has strap marks on his back to this day. I was only picked up by my hair and another time slapped in front of everyone and put in a closet because the nun said I ate before communion. She overheard my grandmother ask if I had breakfast before school. I did not. I could go on.

Do you really believe what your saying or are you really that naive?

What years are we talking about? THe 40s or 50s?

And if that so-called Catholic Church was that bad why was it never reported? And, if it was reported and the abuse didn’t stop you or any other parishoner that was devoted to the faith could have found another parish to attend. That’s one of the good things about being Catholic, if you don’t like your priest or any other things that go on in the church, there is always another Catholic Church down the on the corner, with parishoners and a parish priest that actually try to live their faith, and have not been taken in by the protestantism/modernism that has destroyed many Catholic parishes in this country. And Catholic faith formation starts at home. Why did your parents put up with such a lousy parish?

Me thinks you painted the entire Catholic faith as being no good because of a very bad parish that you attended. So you should have left and found a REAL CATHOLIC CHURCH, not one that been taken over by cafeteria catholics.

I think it is a shame that you two are fighting over religious differences when you are probably in substantial agreement on this topic of abortion (and many other things). I am a Roman Catholic. I wish everyone would be Roman Catholics. There are, however, many who, like Linda Frances, do not find themselves attracted to or convinced by Catholicism for whatever reason. That many find Reformed Christian churches preferable may have many reasons but it is true that such churches are preferred by many.

Both Linda Frances and NKP_Vet are usually absolutely right IMHO in their respective comments here on social issues. Love our Lord Jesus Christ and love one another as He asked. "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us."

On the night before He was crucified, our Lord knew that His flock would not be as one. At this late date, all of us should recognize what He knew. Whatever our differences, we should work together on the many things we have in common and pray for one another as to the rest.

If anyone thinks I am wrong, pray for me to become right!
