Choose the order well. There are some holy nuns out there in devout orders. There are others who are just community organizers with clipped hair and mean faces.

Very good article. It just left out the intensive navy seal training they undergo if they are going to be Catholic High School teachers. There were nuns I knew who could take out Ali or Frazier.

Salvation,

I do not want to become a nun. And even if I did, is there an order of nuns that permit men to join?

The Mary Knoll Fathers tried to recruit me to become a priest when I was attending St. Joseph’s of Indiana until I told them that I would be honored to be the first Protestant MaryKnoll priest. And suddenly they didn’t want me. I’m still trying to figure out “why,” since they were so progressive on most things back in the 60’s. ;-)

Cheers,
GreyFriar

When I was in high school most of the teachers were Nuns. Most of them took different names when they entered the convent. I remember Sister Reginald, Sister Mary Michael, and Sister Helen Patricia. Do Nuns no longer take new names when the go into the convent?
