This feast is also called Candlelmas. I've always thought that the Presentation of Lord brought the light to Simeon and Anna, who both proclaimed about Jesus.

Do you get blessed candles today? Many do -- the only candles that will burn in the end times.

Father Gary blessed candles at the Mass Saturday evening. (I was there at the end to pick up some of my teenagers.) Then he used some of the candles for Blessing of Throats, because tomorrow is St. Blaise Day. Maybe I’ll go to Mass tomorrow; I didn’t want the children to wreak havoc while I waited in the line.
