MOSCOW — At the height of the Cold War, it was common for American conservatives to label the officially atheist Soviet Union a “godless nation.”
More than two decades on, history has come full circle, as the Kremlin and its allies in the Russian Orthodox Church hurl the same allegation at the West.
“Many Euro-Atlantic countries have moved away from their roots, including Christian values,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a recent keynote speech. “Policies are being pursued that place on the same level a multi-child family and a same-sex partnership, a faith in God and a belief in Satan. This is the path to degradation.”
In his state of the nation address in mid-December, Mr. Putin also portrayed Russia as a staunch defender of “traditional values” against what he depicted as the morally bankrupt West. Social and religious conservatism, the former KGB officer insisted, is the only way to prevent the world from slipping into “chaotic darkness.”
As part of this defense of “Christian values,” Russia has adopted a law banning “homosexual propaganda” and another that makes it a criminal offense to “insult” the religious sensibilities of believers.
The law on religious sensibilities was adopted in the wake of a protest in Moscow’s largest cathedral by a female punk rock group against the Orthodox Church’s support of Mr. Putin. Kremlin-run television said the group’s “demonic” protest was funded by “some Americans.”

Russia is not perfect but it's emerging from a most profound darkness and moving slowly towards the light. We, on the other hand, are heading in the opposite direction.
I wonder if it was the Lord speaking through Putin when he also offered Russia as an example of a defender of traditional values. Putin is engaging in subversive techniques and inactive measures by first, criticizing us, then offering his nation as an example and alternative to the “evil” of America. I wonder what the souls of the 20-50 million Russians murdered by Putin’s Russia would agree.

We do not have “trade” with China.
We sell China something in the range of 100 billion in a year.
China sells America 400 billion.
That is not trade. That is a huge, massive inbalance. 4/1 is not trade. It is an unacceptable sell-out.
Go in any American store now. Pick up anything. Anywhere. In any department.
“Made in China”. Meanwhile our own unemployment rate is now unacceptably high.
America is sold out. Bring back American manufacturing.

That is why they the money that come from the USA.
In the book Disinformation, which I am currently reading, the former head of the Romanian Police, then a soviet bloc, claims that even the so called collapse of communism was by design. He claims that Russia today is run by former KGB agents and they are the same communists. Russia is not headed in the direction of faith and freedom..that is a lie. They are still on the path of tyranny. The only difference now is that they are leading us down that same path. Don’t make the mistake of thinking they are moving towards freedom. That is a lie.
Yet for some reason the Orthodox Church is being treated with kid gloves................Hmmmmmmmmm.
Considering the opposite directions America and Russia seem to be heading, I often wonder of the potential of a future scenario in which Russia will be the last man standing in fighting for Christianity and Western values, coming into direct conflict with America, which has devolved into a genuinely evil empire which celebrates depravity and decadence.
Besides the reversal of the old Cold War dichotomy, it also sounds like a sort of dystopian sci-fi novel... but in many ways, it no longer strikes me as all that far-fetched.
Especially when I see how America has so distinctly changed. Everything in the culture that was once regarded good and virtuous is now viciously attacked and maligned, while everything once regarded vile and debased is praised and celebrated. America has become a real mirror-universe to all that it once stood for and the greatness it once represented.
BTW, who wrote book, “Disinformation” ?
I am wondering too myself.

Apparently, in Soviet Russia!
Putin is acting much more “Christian” than Obama ever has. Putin is actually promoting Christianity, Bibles in hotels (while Bibles are being removed in America), speaking out against homosexuals targeting children (while Obama promotes homosexuality being taught in kindergarten). I would take Putin over Obama in a heartbeat and take my chances.

You keep chanting “bring back American manufacturing”. For the most part, it isn’t going to happen. Time to move on.
Either America starts making things again, or else America will simply go away.
Our choice.
