Brazil is only one of 19. I don’t begrudge Brazil a cardinal. I point out the lack of a single American being appointed Cardinal by this new Pope. I think it was intentional, and I doubt you can convince me otherwise, in light of what the Pope has said about our capitalist ways in this country.

But I don’t think you understand what I’m saying:

1) What American bishop would have been made a cardinal when a bunch have been made a cardinal in just a few years?

2) How many American cities which used to have cardinals lack them now? Only one or two.

3) Two Americans were named cardinals in 2012 that I recall.

4) I don’t see any evidence that this pope holds our capitalism against our bishops.
