My question as well. And the answer seems to be disturbing.

I'm fighting the Common Core State Standards (CCSS)in the Diocese of Knoxville. See #17 for some of the info I'm going to be disseminating in my parish.

Imporant to note, though, that Catholic dioceses which are onboard with CCSS aren't necessarily adopting a CCSS Curriculum, and I undersand that about half of them are already starting to back off because of objections from parents and their own parochial school teachers, many of whom intensely dislike CCSS.

Diocese of Knoxville, for instance, says they are neither "adopting" not "adapting" CCSS, but rather retaining their own Catholic curiculum but integrating SOME CCSS maerials into their program.

Am I satisfied with that? No I am not. But I report this just to encourage those who are fighting CCSS. The Catholic school superintendents are NOT completely sold on CCSS, and WILL respond to intelligent, persistent, reasoned opposition.

We can get rid of this damned thing. Keep on pushing.
