A lack of reasonable patience and forbearance toward those who justly deserve recognition of their liberties. Christian charity requires tolerance even of the sinner. However, justice and charity demand intolerance of error, since the truth admits of no compromise.

Amen to your comment. Thank goodness we have role models, the saints who were normal people like us, but lived extraordinarily.

The word “intolerance” seems also to have acquired another usage: a refusal to tolerate a particulor error that the speaker feels (not thinks) should be tolerated.
