We saw this movie at a theater in Salt Lake last night. It began with the elitist male lead throwing out his superiority complex that we see in all liberals. Conversely they made Philomena look like a silly old Catholic believer with below average intelligence who just follows the dogma like so many sheep.
Then the queer part begins. And a queer in Reagan’s legal dept. who had to stay closeted you know because those Republican rascals didn’t have gay-dar.
It could have been a very important statement regarding 1950’s attitudes regarding the shame of pregnancy, not just in Ireland but here as well in Mormondom. But no they have to praise queers and get their digs in about the stupid and low life Republicans.
I have always liked Dench but this time the messenger missed the point. IMHO
