Abwoon D'Bashmaya - The Lords Prayer in Aramaic. This is my favorite version of it. The words are displayed as the video is played.
Not sure where you live but it is well worth considering a retreat with the Maronite Monks of Adoration in Petersham MA. The Maronite Monks of Most Holy Trinity Monastery are a Catholic community of contemplative monks dedicated to a life of prayer and Eucharistic Adorationa life of religious reparation and penance for soulsthat is, for our brothers and sisters in the world, especially those in most need of our prayers. We are a cloistered, contemplative community in which there is an harmonious fusion of cenobitic and eremitical living.
One of our parishioners recently professed his temporary vows with this community. They chant the Our Father in Aramaic, daily. Ironically, ALL of the monks are Roman Catholic but were drawn into the beauty and reverence of the Maronite Divine Liturgy. They offer simple accommodations for visitors during their retreat. Men only! I recall reading a review in the Travel Section of the NY Times, written by a Jew who spent a week with the monks. He was moved by the daily chanting of the Psalms and the peace and calm that surround the monastery.
Thank you, FRiends!
(Now I am wishing once again we had a Maronite Church somewhere near us!)
Do you have the Aramaic version memorized?
