And what of those who succumbed to lust and are reveling in their mortal sin to the pain and mortification of their left behind spouses and children and who, for all intents and purposes, are perfectly content? What solace to those left behind who suffer in agony due to being betrayed and abandoned? The article does not go into that.

I see that one of those links has the answer to your question — Virtues!!

And, of course, a person trapped in this sin can always seek the forgiveness of God through the Sacrament of Penance.

Sometimes such sinners are chastened in this life and brought to their senses; sometimes they resist every effort God makes to reach them, and they continue on their fearful path toward Hell.

What solace to those left behind who suffer in agony due to being betrayed and abandoned? The article does not go into that.

No, the article does not go into that, because it is addressed to those who are seeking to avoid sin, not those who are enjoying their sin. But we who suffer because of the sins of others are not to wish them ill, but must pray for their salvation. If we are filled with bitterness and resentment toward them, we are allowing their sin to contaminate us with the mortal sins called Envy and Wrath, which makes Satan rejoice doubly. Instead we are to pray that God fils our hearts with forgiveness and peace. This is an excellent spiritual exercise, and even if we have no desire to forgive at all, God will honor this reluctant but obedient prayer and help us to forgive.

Our solace is in God, Who in His time will reveal what comfort He has prepared.

Trust me on this. I know whereof I speak. Every blessing to you!
