Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

If you’re an atheist, and you think religion is a tool for hucksters to fleece their followers, and you get involved in one of these...this is me, doing the Nelson Muntz point-and-laugh at you.

I think those who are members of Jediism will join, too.

Just religion with a little different twist.

Atheism is a faith-based belief system. No matter how much atheists sputter, wave their hands about, or otherwise fulminate, when confronted with that fact; there is no "scientific" basis for their belief system.

Amazing how what began as a smart aleck college stunt turns into an organization numbering in the thousands.
The Ku Klux Klan started in the same fashion, IIRC.

Of course the AP is presenting this as though it's a tidal wave of atheistic "liberation." The fact is there may be a handful of faddists thumbing their noses at traditional religion, but like all childish impulses, this won't last long. I agree. They are actually calling a gathering of a few hundred a "MEGA-church". I would think most legitimate churches regularly bring in that many on any given Sunday.

Do they get together just to discuss how they hate Christians and hate God?
Actually, I read a description of a service of one of these assemblies. They sang popular hymns, took an offering, repeated things together, then had a talk on some topic I couldn't remember but would not have interested me.
I feel bad that their souls are so dead--that's where all of the hatred comes from.

"Maybe even hateful towards religion."
"In time we hate that which we often fear" (why are we quoting Shakespeare?) I think some have an unconscious need to eliminate the idea of God from all of their surroundings, because in their heart of hearts they know they've turned their back on Him.

Atheism is a faith-based belief system. And they hate it when you remind them.

It is disappointing that many of the posts on this thread are also hateful by assuming that all atheists ‘hate God’. Just consider that perhaps these people are searching for God and the answers have escaped them....or perhaps they rebelled against parents who were ‘too religious’ or they may have noticed that some Christians they know are hypocrites. Pray for all God's children.

You are correct. Agnostics don’t have the right answers and atheists don’t ask the right questions;)
They all need to read the Bible:)
