I don't think so. Cardinal Bernadin was the author of the Seamless Garment idea that minimized abortion, and gave liberals the out they wanted to stress 'social justice' for the poor while still supporting abortion, and claim some cover from the Church to do so.

Pope Francis may talk about helping the poor, and even mention social justice, but NOT at the expense of accepting abortion, or even homosexual marriage, which I suspect Bernadin would have tolerated, if not fully supported.

Cardinal Bernardin was identified by Malachi Martin as the “Cardinal of Century City” in his novel “Windswept House”. His Seamless Garment became the basis of Pope JP II’s Gospel of Life, which grants moral equivalency to capital punishment/the waging of war with abortion. If Pope Francis continues along these lines the Catholic prolife movement will continue to be dazed and confused.
