Does the afterlife theology of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS or Mormon) leave any room for a Mormon belief in ghosts?
The LDS church believes that everyone has a spirit (sometimes called a "soul" in other theologies,) which is believed to continue living independently of the body after its death.
Since a ghost is defined as "a disembodied soul" (Merriam-Webster's Dictionary,) Mormons technically do believe in ghosts. That is, they believe that everyone has a spirit that continues living even without a physical living body.

Though it is not doctrinal, non-canonical sources suggest that the spirit world is on this earth but not visible to human eyes most of the time. Early Mormon leaders Joseph Smith and Brigham Young said that the spirits of the righteous departed "are not far from us,"...

laplata, just leave a note for your Mormon ghosts with this reminder:
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1)
And laplata, since I'm sure you don't like Christian apostles who go 'round "cursing" counterfeit angels proclaiming counterfeit "gospels," why don't start bashing the apostle Paul, too...
(If only the apostle Paul had learned to be a bit more tolerant...like you & a few other FReepers 'round here!!)
I stand corrected. The Mormon ghosts and I thank you!
I’m going to inspect those Mormon ghosts underwear and make sure it’s up to Mormon standards. If not, they will need to Trick or Treat like the little kids.
And if any Mormon ghosts bring more than three wives, they will be called selfish for hogging all the goodies.
“And if any Mormon ghosts bring more than three wives, they will be called selfish for hogging all the goodies.”
Oh come on..one treat for the Mormon ghost and one for each wife. One treat per trick or treat-er. That’s my rule.
That’s a good rule to follow. Those Mormon ghosts are a tricky bunch.....especially in cold weather when they bundle up and hide their magic underwear.; then they’re downright unrecognizable as Mormon ghosts.
This anti-cross is a "good fit" for a dark night like Halloween...
Moroni gold what?
Hey, if anybody IS searching for a Halloween costume...get one of those Moroni gold-gilded fiberglass weathervanes and wear that on their cap...

You must be under the misguided impression that Mormons are a great threat. You are on some kind of kooky Crusade.
I’m Catholic and have no fear of anything Mormon.
If they are a threat to you, you have some serious issues.
I just had a thought. Who are the Mormon Ghost-busters?
Casper and his buddies.
I just found an old pair with holes in them in the bottom of my drawer. I am going out as the Holy Ghost.
Might be a couple more in there. Takers? Anyone?
The “angel” atop Mormon temples
HAY!!!
HAY!
Casper is a hungry critter.
Probably the most repeated post I've given in these past five years is where I cite two New Testament passages: Luke 12:4-5 & Acts 20:28-31...
And, once again, you provide a typical non-Mormon comment on a thread like this that elicits this same response...
Unlike some Freepers who seem to fear communists, Marxists, Muslims, socialists, the Democrats, Obama & the like...I don't. Nor do I fear Mormons.
However...I do exercise "fear" on behalf of those heading to hell ... based upon these very words of Jesus:
4 I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. (Luke 12:4-5)
In this way, every false shepherd/cult is a spiritual threat to those they mislead to hell...
For you to pretend otherwise is heresy...and you bring shame upon your own head & Catholicism in general. Or, do you just take scissors and snip the following passage out of your Bible?
28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. 29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. 31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears. (Acts 20)
What? When you get to heaven, you're going to lambast the apostle Paul because he took the care -- night & day for 3 years -- to warn with tear about false shepherds? Would you dare to accuse the apostle Paul of engaging in fear-mongering because he did that daily?
Your Biblical ignorance doesn't represent Catholics very well on this thread.

I haven’t mentioned or argued anything in the Bible on this thread.
Good luck in your Crusade. I prefer to fight Islam and Communism.
Good night.
Yes!
People seeing him for the first time, from a distance, thinks he’s a miniature horse!
Casper, the friendly goat!
Nothing wrong with either of these worthy causes.
Just as there is nothing wrong with fighting false teachers and false christs.
