I should have written, you cannot base your salvation on SOMEONE ELSE’S EXPERIENCE.

My bad.

Good post (and correction). Many many many today believe that the authority of others should substitute for their own experience. This is the case in many areas. In politics we all know such people as "low information voters". How often, though, nearly everyone seems to abandon this self-evident life lesson when it comes to the question of their Faith! The most important question, for many, is answered by studying what others say about this part of the Bible and that part of Christian (and religious) history, and simply accept such teaching without question! Just because such authors are authorities.

In other words, such people allow themselves to become enslaved to the powers that be, that is, the world. Even many political conservatives fall into this seductive trap!

No, in looking at one's own experience, and comparing and applying that to the question of Faith, the "answer" becomes self evident, just as conservatism is self evident to those who value truth over what they desire to be true. This is what is key: a desire for truth over what one wishes were true. Because truly, Christianity is a fact, that is, something (or really Someone) present in the world NOW, thus, verifiable by EVERYONE and their own experience.

Note, that link is a proposal to a much more broad proposal, a method for living, not something to merely study and memorize but something to actually do, and therefore verify for oneself. This is truly the very "method" that Christ Himself instituted and proposed. It's the same today as 2,000 years ago.

This is the Method that really works. Not some new version of a "church rebel" who thinks after 2,000 years he's found the "Way". The proof of that claim (the one I just made) is not in my authority or anyone's (or any thing's). It's in the experience of the man who loves the Truth over everything else.

It is, just as "easy" as that.

Thanks,
