The Church of Sweden has elected its first woman archbishop.
On 15 October 2013 the Rt. Rev. Antje Jackelén, Bishop of Lund, was elected Archbishop of Uppsala and primate of the Church of Sweden.
She also objected to making belief in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ a benchmark of the Christian faith. It is strange that the question of the virgin birth has become something of a faith test, she told Kyrkans Tidning, adding the Bible had been interpreted in different ways across time and cultures and that many different cultures had made use of a virgin birth as a way to show a particular person's self-importance.

who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man;
Or the Lutheran Church version of the Apostles Creed:
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary,
How did she get to this position in the Church of Sweden ?
Maybe she believes Jesus’ father was Odin.
Liberal women generally don’t have much respect for virginity or motherhood.
I bet I can get good odds she denies the divinity of Christ so son of Odin would not cut it. :0
And neither do men, for that matter, making me wonder why these women call themselves “feminist.”
Therefore if you don't believe in virgin birth, then you are not a Christian. What is so crazy is that with current technology, you can have a virgin birth today; so how hard would that be for God to perform.
You are generally right and that is why there is the controversy of whether Mormons are really Christians since they reject the Creeds. From a historical and theological point one can say Non-Nicene Christians.
Love the Odin comment.
You’re not wrong. The ENTIRE Apostles Creed is the minimum you can believe and still be a christian. Otherwise, you are just a church attendee.
Belief in the “Church of Sweden” is optional.
That is my belief...The Apostles’ Creed is Christianity in a Nutshell.
Funny. The Bible I have says bishops are supposed to be men. But what do I know. I'm just a backwards conservative Calvinist who believes God rather than modern feminism.
Two gospels use the virgin birth as their first argument that Jesus is God. Why trust anything in any Gospel if the got the basics wrong?
Mormons are not Christians. Polythiests can’t be Christians.
Matthew 10:33 (KJ21) | In Context | Whole Chapter
33 But whosoever shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before My Father who is in Heaven.
Gustavus Augustus is now spinning at a high RPM, but that is what modern situational religion gets you. If it feels good, then it must be Godly and may the gods be with you!
What controversy? They're not Christians, pure and simple. Sure, they might borrow the lexicon of Christianity, but they infuse it with all-new definitions and backstory.
God said it.
I believe it.
That settles it.
This will help illustrate what I mean when I say “I don’t have a problem with female clergy, I just have a problem with female clergy”.
