I know what John 3:18 says......it does not say that only those who believe will be saved.

You are correct.

It says that those who DON'T believe will NOT be saved.

If the RCC finds a middle ground between BELIEF and UNBELIEF; I'd like to understand just what it is.

I don’t know what this RCC is, but I know that the Catholic teaches that God is merciful and that Jesus is the Savior and that is enough to know that for those who through no fault of their own do not know Jesus. It is not a question of middle ground, it is a question of whether or not God, who alone knows the hearts of all men, will save those who have not heard of Jesus.

if you have never heard of Jesus, it is difficult to condemn you to hell. I would say that belief is hearing the word of God from the Catholic church and Catholic bible, and accepting it....I would say that unbelief is hearing the word of God from the Catholic church and Catholic Bible and protesting (denying)it...see?
