COUNCIL OF EPISCOPAL CONFERENCES OF EUROPE (C.C.E.E.)
A collegial body of elected delegates from the bishops' conferences of Europe. Decreed by the Second Vatican Council (Christus Dominus) and established by Pope Paul's motu proprio, Ecclesiastical Sanctae, the council first met in 1965. It has no juridical power and is essentially a service agency to co-ordinate and assist in communication among the episcopal conferences.
