No, study not required unless one wants a degree or a convoluted view of God.

The Spirit will guide you as He wants to and will open your eyes to meaning in His word.

Yes, I have been to a mass performed at a wedding in a Catholic church and found it to be very dead and lifeless. Nothing at all like what lives in my heart.

LOL! I think you need to drop in at my church. Nothing lifeless or dead. Everyone sings, great homily by the priest and revernt Liturgy of the Eucharist.

It was during the Liturgy of the Eucharist that Scott Hahn realized how much the Scriptures were quoted in the Catholic Mass, and that led to his conversion from Presbyterian to Catholic.
