Beautifully done. Of course there is a place for generosity and it is person to person. Direct services.

100% agree. You don’t delegate compassion - especially to the politicians and bureaucrats.

Powerful.
I would never in a million years remember it was an ad for a telecomm company, but it’s a great a video in broader sense.

That was so beautiful. I cried. This is what true giving and caring is all about. It’s not about being compelled by a government at the risk of incarceration, it’s about love and trust.

Yes, it was a nice commercial. But the idiots who vote will think that hospitals should give all of their services for free. Just how is that doctor going to pay for that procedure he erased from that man’s bill? Unless the doc had the money to pay for it and did so.

... You dont delegate compassion - especially to the politicians and bureaucrats. Exactly. If the poor need something, compassionate people should provide it directly to them. A local government can even be involved as long as it is in the direct services side. If the poor need medical services, for example, there should be a local free clinic where they can go and directly get health care.

Well, it's reportedly a true story. The framed pictures in the last seconds of the video show the real doctor. I'd guess he negotiated with all the other parties (the anesthesiologist, the other doctors, the X-ray technicians, the hospital billing dept) and got it all cleared away.
Tax write-off. Publicity gesture. Explain it any way you want. But isn't it wonderful that this shared recognition of what "humanity" is, stretches across all of humanity?

When you impulsively give to somebody who is in dire need, you don’t expect to be praised for it. At the time you feel that it’s just the right thing to do. But eventually it comes back to you. That’s how you get your blessings.
