Now for then. Intending some future effect while performing a present action. This applies especially to the administration of the sacraments, whose effects take place over a lifetime, as in baptism; or at the hour of death, as in the anointing of the sick; or with varying graces to meet different needs, as in matrimony.

Lawyers use "nunc pro tunc" to refer to a retroactive/ backdated order. In other words, on September 5, a judge will sign an order "nunc pro tunc August 30, 2013", and it will be effective as of the earlier date (usually when he held the hearing and ruled, but didn't get around to entering the order on the clerk's docket until September).
I guess it amounts to the same thing (on a more sordid level :-D ).
