Those definitions, or the ideas they imply, are no where hinted at in God’s word. Add all you want to it - the penalty for doing so is laid down.

Er... friend, nowhere in the Bible does it say that the Bible is to be the only source of salvific truth. Your embrace of "sola scriptura" (an invention of men) leaves you with two problems: you're left believing something which is self-contradictory (which is illogical and foolish, to say the least), and it means that you (in the tradition of Luther, et al.) are adding to God's Written Word... and, according to your interpretation, the penalty for doing so is laid down, yes?

What are the “other” sources of salvific truth?

Even if I were advocating “sola scriptura” that would not excuse the blatant violation of scripture.

“Er... friend, nowhere in the Bible does it say that the Bible is to be the only source of salvific truth.”

What other source has salvific truth that is not found in the Scriptures, but is necessary for salvation? What is that non-Scriptural truth that is necessary?

Er... friend, nowhere in the Bible does it say that the Bible is to be the only source of salvific truth.

The apostle John tells us that everything we need to know to be saved can be found in his gospel.

John 20:30-31 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

2 Timothy 3:16,17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly unto all good works. So while Catholics cling to their traditions and the doctrines of Rome, that may not be the best course. Gal. 1-8 but even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. Not many Hail Marys, rosary beads or Holy Fathers in their recorded conversations.

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Isn’t it interesting that he commended them for searching the scriptures>/b> to see if even what he taught was true? Do you “search the scriptures daily” to see if what the RCC teaches is true or is the scripture secondary to what the RCC teaches for you?
