The Pope is saying nothing more than has been said in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, 841: “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”

Also in Lumen Gentium, section 16 (1964): “But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator. In the first place amongst these there are the Mohamedans, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God, who on the last day will judge mankind.”

And Nostra Aetate, section 3 (1965): “The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all-powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth, who has spoken to men; they take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees, just as Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God. Though they do not acknowledge Jesus as God, they revere Him as a prophet. They also honor Mary, His virgin Mother; at times they even call on her with devotion. In addition, they await the day of judgment when God will render their deserts to all those who have been raised up from the dead. Finally, they value the moral life and worship God especially through prayer, almsgiving and fasting.”

Pope Francis is doing nothing more than reiterating what is, quite frankly, the teachings of the Catholic Church post Vatican II. And all of the above also applies to the Jews as well, so they’re not left out either.

Take that for what that’s worth; I have no dog in this particular hunt.

we know he’s ssayng that. he is wrong, this teaching of the church is wrong on this. muslims are not saved, they don’t get a pass because they think Mary is awesome, and even more liked than Jesus who they call a liarand not the Son of God.

they have zero inheritance in the One True God - NOT ALLAH - as muslims. just like any other person who does not receive Jesus Christ as God, Savior and Lord.

What repulsive theology. They basically deny that there is no salvation outside of Jesus Christ, but offer it to Muslims who allegedly venerate the same God as we do.

Also in Lumen Gentium, section 16 (1964): “But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator.

That statement is a religious lie...Believing there is a God has no more advantage to someone than of someone else who believes there is no God...

In the first place amongst these there are the Mohamedans, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God, who on the last day will judge mankind.”

That's a scary thought...We Christians know the 'end' of the muzlim world...And it ends in outer darkness...

Mat_8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mat_13:42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

In addition, they await the day of judgment when God will render their deserts to all those who have been raised up from the dead. Finally, they value the moral life and worship God especially through prayer, almsgiving and fasting.”

Right...And when get to that Judgement and see Jesus sitting on the Throne, then what??? Are they going to say, 'Who's this guy??? Where's God???

Gal 4:22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
Gal 4:23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
Gal 4:24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
Gal 4:25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
Gal 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Gal 4:27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
Gal 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
Gal 4:29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
Gal 4:30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
Gal 4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

Muzlims may be the brothers of Catholics but muzlims are not, will not be, and can not be the brothers of Christians...

Islam has a fundamental problem with Divine Justice.

Until they can accept the perfect sacrifice provided by Jesus Christ on the Cross, and face God directly in that faith, and recognize Christ died for their sins, then they still lack forgiveness from God and remain condemned already for all eternity future.
