Perhaps a better question is: Why did they I Crucify Jesus? A question EVERYONE needs to ask and acknowledge, especially me! "They" were merely people involved in the physical crucifiction, and share in the cause with all of mankind, previous, current and still to come.

Remember the woman caught in adultery? Jesus said that whomever was sinless should throw the first stone at her. ALL dropped their stones and left. None were, nor are any today, nor will any in the future be sinless until He returns.

This is not correct. Jesus was having a “mini” trial if you will. Jesus was asking for witnesses whom had seen her sin. Casting stones was also similar to casting votes.
