Try reading with comprehension: he said “respect the religion of the other” implying reciprocity. Do you respect the teachings and values of Islam? Yes or No?

Respecting the religion does not imply respecting the teachings and values -- it denotes respecting the rights of the other TO their religion, whatever that may be

Now we Christians DO that -- Moslems if they want to believe what they want, we say ok, we think you're wrong, but that's your choice

Moslems on the other hand say "believe in allah, the illah of peace or we keel you"

The Pope made his remarks to the Moslems at the end of Ramzan -- it is clearly directed to THEM to respect Christians in the ME.
