The Catholic Church does not allow men to be nuns, either. What does Carter think about that?
When I was younger, those nuns practically ran the whole show - the Catholic schools, the hospitals, the charity kitchens, etc. Priests and nuns each serve in a different capacity, but both are important to the Church.
Does Jimmy actually think about anything?
The Church doesn't allow men to be sisters (nuns are a particular category of sisters) ... Men who enter into religious life but are not ordained are called "brothers".
I suppose that's all very discriminatory ... after all, some benighted soul might insist that (Y-chromosome to the contrary notwithstanding) he wants to be a "sister".
