“Hostage to the Devil” is very well written.

On the negative side, I found it very frightening, and could only read it during the day.

I still can’t decide whether my fear was caused by demonic power attached to the book, or by the stories themselves.

The book can serve the salutary purpose of warning us of the dangers of dabbling in the occult, but it could also arouse curiosity.

Check your own personality beforehand.

I understand being frightening or disturbed by reading about certain things, but do you believe that demonic power can actually be "caught" or "brought forth" by reading a book about the topic? I don't ask this in a sarcastic sense; I really want your opinion of the concept. Because if so, I can only wonder as to the purpose of the authors who write such books.

Wise advice.
