I am currently reading The Day Satan Called by Bill Scott.... somewhat interesting, but at this point (about a quarter into it) not very well-written or even believable. I'm interested in your opinions or suggestions for non-fictional accounts of demonic possession, Satanism, and the like -- I'm considering Malachi Martin's Hostages of the Devil. I'd also be interested in your thoughts on these topics as they relate to ouija boards, Enneagram charts, or even yoga, as well as any personal experiences you may have with said topics. I'm especially concerned with a Roman Catholic or Orthodox point of view but any Christian viewpoint will be appreciated. Thank you!
Interview With an Exorcist - Fr. Jose Antonio Fortea
Begone Satan, A Soul-Stirring Account of Diabolical Possession in Iowa - Rev. Carl Vogl
An Exorcist Tells His Story, and An Exorcist: More Stories - Fr. Gabriele Amorth
The Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed and Lorraine Warren - Gerald Brittle
The book in question was not official Catholic doctrine and indeed was denounced by a Church council and the Inquisition.
However, it was widely popular in secular courts of both Catholic and Protestant countries for over a century.
For a better understanding of Satan then read all books written by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
That’s for sure. Those two are some of his most treasured tools.
Yes....what’s that Scripture about the devil prowling around like a roaring lion to devour those he can? (Paraphrasing)
All the best stories on these topics have been made into entertaining movies. Save yourself trouble and rent the flicks.
1Pe 5:8-9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (9) Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
1 Peter 5:8
You can tell the exorcism is successful because the victim no longer pimps their blog.
“The Amazing Randy” is an excellent source on all supernatural phenomena.
Question, it is NOT necessary for you to answer ME, but an important question nonetheless.
How much time have you spend in God’s Word this week? Month?
Have you gone to Bible studies? Anything like that?
I have a few books I’ve read on the topic.
Demon Possession and the Christian by C. Fred Dickason, 1987 Moody Press
(Dallas Theological Seminary grad)
The Handbook For Spiritual Warfare by Dr. Ed Murphy, 1992 - new version. Thomas Nelson publishers.
Both are somewhat scholarly but not overly so. Lots of case studies and of scripture.
Both acknowledge that the translation of possession would be more accurately understood as demonized is most cases.
Can a Christian be fully possessed in the fashion seen often in the N.T.? Most would say no. I had a seminary professor tell the class once he thought if that is what one wants then maybe. More likely some level of demonization or oppression is very possible. However, on the mission field and in may nonwestern cultures their seems to be evidence that people who have become believers and have been baptized have struggles that might be connected to some level of demonic activity and gradient of possession.
It doesn’t help that many people knee-jerkingly respond no way - the Holy Spirit couldn’t coexist with the demonic. This conveys to either a new believer or a long time believer with problems that the reality is that they are not really believers or belonging God’s family. God forgive those who over a theological point push away those struggling who need their prayers and help because of a theological stance probably rooted more in our insecurities and anti-supernatural bias than in God’s thoughts and revelations.

Yeah, but in most movies the white, bigotted, Christian male dies in a horrible way and a mature new age woman, with the help of a goth lesbian chick, saves the day. Then all the survivors eat tofu while affirming each other.
Thank you, yes, I’m familiar with that admonition, and it’s a good one. I’m not just looking for entertainment “a la The Exorcist.” I like to think there are authors who have sought to provide information vs. titillation, but I do appreciate all FReeper viewpoints. Thank you!
I agree. Stay clear of it. I never used it but experienced its after effect when house sitting. At the time I didn't know the owner used the ouija board. The first night I had entered a room where she used it. Prayer saved me as I tried to escape out of that house. I never went back figuring whatever was in that house will take care of it itself.
That’s the one. Thank you.
Any clue what to do with the part of the lung I laughed/hacked up?

all i know is that you best approach any research with the mindset of a Christian Warrior or you may get out of bed one morning look down and see your butt
People that are willing to yank demons up by the elbows out of the break room aren't going to go over well with the nancy girls.
2$ bet.
