Featured Term (selected at random):

FREEDOM OF GOD

The liberty of God relative to creatures. God loves himself of necessity, but he loves and wills outside himself with freedom. This divine liberty is the freedom to act or not to act (liberty of contradiction), for example, to create the world. And it is the freedom to choose various goods or indifferent actions (liberty of specification), for example, to create this or that world.

If God loves Himself out of necessity, and we are made in His image, we should love ourselves out of necessity also.
