They’re like shooting stars who brighten the darkness with their incredible beauty and light...and then they burn out and are gone, leaving us to only wonder in awe.

I suppose we should be very grateful that God sends them blazing into our lives, now and again.

I may be too late, Salamander, but my prayers are with you. Pet companions bring so much comfort. We recently lost our dog, and we couldn’t afford the $5000 it would have taken to repair her hip (she had a tendency to run away, having been mistreated as a pup). We had to surrender her to an Ottawa shelter—where, miracle of miracles, they performed surgery and adopted her out.

I’ll have to finish this thread, but I hope and pray that Halla is either better or with the Lord. Animal companions, I think, are always welcome there. :)

Julie

Thank you all for being here with me.

I can’t bear to type much and I can never get the copy/semi-colon thing right so a lot of you go unanswered, personally but know that ALL of you have made the unbearable somewhat less so.

I hope that somehow, Hall can understand now all the love that she got in her short life from people she’d never met.

I am desperately hoping that she’s with God and that my gramma has taken her in, as I hope she’s done with all my animals, gone.

Gramma would love her.

She loved all critters and always took up for mine when no one else would.

Prayers are always welcome, Julie..especially now, for different things.

I’m -very- sorry things turned out the way they did with your girl but glad she’s alive, somewhere.

Oh, now I see the worst has apparently happened. I’m so sorry.

I do have a funny story about a dog named Claudius, a black Lab, who was part of our family for fourteen years. He developed arthritis in his back legs and he couldn’t walk-”knuckling under” was the phrase I think the vet used.

I just knew that he was in so much pain, and it was time. I brought him to the vet to put him to sleep.

I know—it’s not funny yet. :)—but Claudy would always come into the kitchen when I was frying up meat, and look at me with his soulful eyes. I always gave him some in his bowl.

As he lost control of the lower part of his body, he kept passing gas. :) The night I got back from the vet, I was making dinner in the kitchen and suddenly I smelled what can only be described as a ... I don’t know. :) It was certainly pungent, as Claudy’s farts had been. (I was alone at the time and it wasn’t me!)

I told my sister and brother-in-law what had happened; my BIL said, “Claudius may be gone, but he’s with you in spirit”. LOL.

Thanks, Salamander—please see my post 686—those who have passed on do make their presence known. Sometimes in funny ways. :)

Good night, all! :)

There is NOTHING for her to forgive you for.

You gave her your every thought, your heart, your soul, as she gave you hers.

That she left us all is part of the whole plan of the one beyond our understanding.

I say this as the guy who has to decide whether to put his kitty friend of 16 years Quatorze (the original Viking Kitty, BTW) down. Mr. Zippy (13 as of Jan 1st) is still dandy. For now.

I will miss you on the forum, but want to see your constructions and lessons from this sadness posted here, in photos and your magnificient prose.

You really CAN turn a phrase when you want to! Your photos speak for themselves.

You have an amazing talent, and I would be truly distraught to lose what little I can see of your work should you leave us for too long.

My deepest sympathies to you and your hubby in your hour of pain.

God have mercy on us all.

I hope you're not away too long Sal.I told my wife what had happened and we both just sat there silent because one word, any word would have brought tears. Please check in dear sister because I can't say much right now but I want to say plenty.

"I am desperately hoping that she’s with God"

I really believe God wants you to know that it isn't over.

Be still and know that He is God.

“That she left us all”

I will cherish those few simple words in my heart.

That you all would feel her passing as a personal loss is the most fitting, best tribute to this little girl.

All of her life, she was part of FR.

Each and every one of you were her family, too.

She had more ‘aunts’ and ‘uncles’ than any dog I’ve ever known.

She was and always be “our” little pup.

She was still wrapped in her blanket, lying in the car awaiting the arrival of a friend to help dig her grave.

I didn’t even pause..I came straight here to share with you all the news of her passing.

I hope that conveys my feelings towards her family on FR.

Heck, my own mom doesn’t even know she’s gone, yet.

She could not have asked for more in life than to be loved by you wonderful, caring people...and neither can I.

So sorry to hear the sad news, Salamander.

My gorgeous Keeshond, Keesha Sue, is up there on the welcoming committee, greeting all doggie girls who come after her with love, licks, and wags. Your baby is in good paws.
