I believe you are totally wrong. Jesus gave the keys of the kingdom to Peter after asking him three times if he loved him.

What were Jesus’ instructions to Peter?

Feed my lambs.

Tend my sheep. (Yes, we are all sheep.)

Feed my sheep.

Is that in your Bible? Or do you skip over that part of the Gospel?

John 1:11 - 13 (kjv)

1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

That sticky verse 13 pretty much does away with ANY external 'influence' regarding whom is a child of God. (Christian)
