One of the faults of Christian doctrine has been the following of Platonic models by early patristics in distorting the gospel doctrines given by Christ to his Apostles (including Paul), which has resulted in Roman and Reformers' catholicism, a deep flaw in the transmission of anti-Nicene thought.
Why don't you do a paper on the wedding of Platonism with Scriptural doctrine, and see how it has diluted the "gospel" as usually preached today?
You might find that a very interesting and fruitful ground of study.
