Rick Warren’s Son Commits Suicide

ick Warren’s son has taken his own life. Matthew Warren, 27, had struggled with mental illness before his death.

Evangelist Greg Laurie posted an e-mail the Saddleback Church pastor sent to this staff: “Only those closest knew that he (Matthew) struggled from birth with mental illness, dark holes of depression, and even suicidal thoughts. In spite of America’s best doctors, meds, counselors, and prayers for healing, the torture of mental illness never subsided. Today, after a fun evening together with Kay and me, in a momentary wave of despair at his home, he took his life.” Click here to read a prayer request Rick Warren e-mailed to his staff.

Prayers and condolences are flooding into Warren’s Facebook page. And Laurie also expressed his heartfelt pain over Warren’s loss.

>> “So.... lets say you fell tomorrow and suffered a compound fracture of your arm. You wouldn’t go to a doctor?” <<

.
About 41 years ago, when I was in high school, I fractured my left femur when I smashed into a goal post hard enough to split the redwood 6x6 and take the whole thing down to the ground.

I refused to allow the doc to cast it because I would not have been allowed to remain on the wrestling team. It healed fine in about ten days.

The need for medical assistance is grossly exaggerated.

“.why don’t we just forget doctors and medicine for , oh, say, pneumonia, high blood pressure, diabetes..”

WE definitely should, because they have no healing to offer, but just life long dependance on the adversary’s answer to disease.

Here's the thing, I have type 1 diabetes and insulin shots have kept me alive for the last 8 years. What's your advice for me? Should I stop taking insulin and pray my pancreas' inability to produce natural insulin goes away? Hey, I know, why don't I just grow some new beta cells? Should I just die to fulfill God's plan? What do you got?

So you’re saying that prayer can reverse autoimmune dysfunction? Call me skeptical.

“Pernicious anemia, which is an autoimmune disease in which parietal cells of the stomach responsible for secreting intrinsic factor are destroyed. Intrinsic factor is crucial for the normal absorption of B12, so a lack of intrinsic factor, as seen in pernicious anemia, causes a vitamin B12 deficiency.”

Or are you saying that prayer causes glycoprotein produced by the parietal cells of the stomach, so that mostly women who do not produce enough glycoprotein haven’t prayed enough?

>> “Just MHO but I do think there is a legitimate place for doctors in addition to prayer and the full acceptance of God’s faithfulness.” <<

.
What use is there for doctors when we have full healing at our disposal for doing what we have to do anyway to have eternal life?

Doctors cause more illness than they can allieviate. They prescribe deadly drugs like blood pressure meds and statins that greatly shorten life, as a routine event. Blood pressure is safely and effectively controlled by just eating a proper diet, and statins have no legitimate purpose at all, since the LDLs are actually produced by your liver to save your life. You would bleed to death through your blood vessels without them.

Call yourself skeptical.

This is a kind of healing that is well documented, but if you wish not to believe that is your right. You might just take a look at what Be In Health ministries has routinely accomplished before you turn on your skepticator.

Sorry, I’ve met some healing witches in South America, and they come across as far more professional than American snake-handling shaman. Generally better results, too.

I trust that you understand the term “strawman?”

Who said anything about quantities of prayer?

All autoimmune diseases are rooted in self rejection and fear. Asthma, Lupus, and pernicious anemia would fall into that group. If you confess the cause, and repent of the sins of fear and self hatred you are elligible for the body of Yeshua, which heals our diseases.

Its not about who is praying, nor how long; its about achieving that elusive sanctification through the confession and repentance of shuch sins as may be in the way... Or not.

They’re not bullies. They are “tares”. Jesus’ parable in Matthew 13.

You accuse Luke based on one probably poorly translated verse?

Not much basis there.

The book editor-surveyor is recommending, A More Excellent Way, is LDS.

That is a lie from the pit of hell! Be In Health is a Southern Pentecostal group mostly, although thousands of people that have been healed have joined up with them since they began.

There are two different books of the same name, one pertains to healing and the other is a collection of LDS essays.

Do not accuse another Freeper of telling a lie, it attributes motive, the intent to deceive. It is "making it personal."

Words such as "wrong" "error" "false" do not attribute motive.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

There is a difference between "being healed" and believing that I shouldn't take an aspirin when I have a headache. Or I shouldn't have my appendix removed when it ruptures. Sometimes God works a miracle and heals people. Sometimes he uses doctors.

It's like the old joke with the guy drowning in the ocean. He prays "GOD, please save me! Work a miracle". Not long after a boat comes by... and he says "I don't need your help, God will save me". Later another boat comes by and he says "don't need your help, God will save me"... not long after a helicopter flies over and he says "don't need your help, God will save me". He drowns. When he gets to heaven he asks God why he wasn't saved, and God tells him "gee.. I sent you two boats and a helicopter".

It’s not a “lie from the pit of hell”. How extreme you are! If you check Amazon, there is more than one book entitled, “A More Excellent Way”, there are 6 in fact. My apologies for not going to your link.

To: y'all

I read each thread today regarding Rick and Kay’s son...and while some of you were very kind and caring, I’ve got to say it was a disappointment to read other comments.

I don’t agree with the man’s teachings, either, but what seemed to be lost today is....a father and mother are going to bury their son. Think on that, please, and post accordingly.

Perhaps a bit of compassion for THAT would be nice???
