Cardinal Timothy Dolan acknowledged on Sunday that there was still much to do to make the church welcoming to gay and lesbian Catholics.
"We gotta do better to see that our defense of marriage is not reduced to an attack on gay people. And I admit, we haven't been too good at that. We try our darndest to make sure we're not an anti-anybody," he said in an interview to be aired Sunday on ABC's "This Week.".
But the archbishop of New York said he wasn't sure how that outreach might work.
"I don't know. We're still trying. We're trying our best to do it. We got to listen to people," he said. "Jesus died on the cross for them as much as he did for me."(continued)

You're an ass.
Cardinal shut up
It's in line with the Hate-the-Sin, Love-the-Sinner philosophy. You can accept people for who they are, rather than condemn them for what they've done. We're all sinners, and we all seek forgiveness.
Tolerance has always been an important message, but tolerance does not mean acceptance or saying "Run along and go do what you want."
Did you read the article before commenting? Or are you reacting to a title that’s written to elicit such a response.
Agreed. However, “tolerance” has been twisted into meaning “acceptance” and “endorsement” by so many today.
I have a sickening feeling that there are elements at the highest levels of power within the church that are getting dangerously close to ‘softening’ (i.e., ‘caving’) on some or all of the issues that the atheistic media has been hammering away at for all these decades (e.g., gays, abortion, women priests, contraception, you name it). I hope and pray that I’m wrong, but the counter-revolution of JP2 and B16 may indeed be over. It’s starting to look like the ‘60s and early ‘70s all over again, where everything is up for grabs and a revolution is brewing. Get ready for Vatican 3. God help us.
Your job is to tell them the Truth. Your job is to call them to repentance and conversion. Your job is to lead them to freedom from sin and to saving Faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Your job is to tell them that two men cannot marry each other. And that two women cannot marry each other.
Your job, Cardinal Dolan, IS TO TELL SELF-SO-CALLED 'GAY' PEOPLE THAT SODOMY IS WRONG. THAT THEY ARE DEDICATING THEMSELVES TO A LIFESTYLE OF SIN. THAT THEY ARE ON A HIGHWAY TO HELL.
If they don't like it, that's their problem.
But you do them no favors, if you don't do your JOB!
Mr Dolan is a fool and a tool of the Devil
“welcoming ga and lesbian Catholics” is an endorsment of the homo agenda

Cardinal Dolan is probably one of the homomafia or being blackmailed by them, (Fr. Oko’s report).
“Tolerance is the virtue of the man without convictions.” G.K. Chesterton
The Catholic Church is NOT about “feelings”; It is about the Truth and saving souls. Homosexuality is an abomination.
Dolan allowed Steponallofus to set the terms of the discussion.
What Dolan should have done is repeat the Church’s teaching that all deliberate seeking of sexual pleasure, except by a man and woman who are married to each other, is grave matter. This is not going to change. It has nothing to do with fictitious GROUPS of people.
The Church IS ALWAYS TOTALLY WELCOMING OF SINNERS. EVERYONE is always welcome to come to church for confession and absolution. There are absolutely NO BARRIERS keeping anyone from doing so.
I must defend Cardinal Dolan here. He is speaking of love for one’s brother. Do not confuse the sinner with the sin.
I know too many good, good people who struggle with their sexuality.
I believe he is appealing to the individual, not the lobby.
Gays make up just 3% of the population, but our society is obsessed with making sure they are happy in every way.
Many churches have the rainbow flag hanging in front to show they are fans of this tiny group that is so proud of their sins. It just doesn’t make any sense.
When did it become wrong to be anti- things you disagree with, for Pete sake??
November 4, 2008. Any other questions?
Thank you for mentioning Fr. Oko’s report. I was not aware of it.
Please explain what the proper outreach to gays would be?
Reserve special pews for them in church? Perhaps gay bingo?
Well written.
