Our Heavenly Father has taken dear Edith Schaeffer to himself. She passed away quietly in her sleep last night in Gryon, Switzerland where she has been living with her family. We cannot express how deep is our gratitude for her life and we thank the Lord that she is enjoying the Hope that she has so longed for.

(Frank Schaeffer is gracious.)
"Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven."
That’s a nice tribute Frank wrote. Give him a day or two to get over it, and he’ll write something bitter and angry about her.
May his mother rest in peace, and may Frank take it all (or almost) all of it back again.
His father was one fantastic Christian writer. A great mind that understood fully the folly of the 60's etc.
May God welcome her home after her long and dedicated life.
Thats a nice tribute Frank wrote. Give him a day or two to get over it, and hell write something bitter and angry about her.
My thought was (though I didn't want that in the first post): "Edith must not have been a gun owner". (Recalling one particular vile and hateful column Frank wrote recently.)
Some of the stuff Frank has written about his mom have been awful. I don’t even know if it’s true. If it’s true, I still don’t think he should have written it. Very personal sexual things. I don’t know how she put up with it, but I guess she did. Maybe it didn’t bother her, I don’t know.
A dear friend of ours has fond memories of L'Abri and Francis Schaeffer and lives his life accordingly.(even named his son after him)
Too bad about Frankie....what a waste.
RIP.
I will wait to see but I really, really, really hope so.
I hope he told her that before she died. I know I hope to hear that from my son before I die.
She’s in heaven. She knows.
RIP to a wonderful woman of God. I’m sure she’s heard “well done, my good and faithful servant” by now.
Anima Christi - Soul of Christ Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds, hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me.
And bid me come to Thee, that with Thy saints I may praise Thee for ever and ever. Amen.
I just know of this one example of my friend who would be glad to be known as Francis Schaeffer's son--& is highly respected in our church.
Frankie squandered his son-ship with all that nastiness.....I hope he has repented and seeks to start again in the right direction.
Maybe the real children of Francis and Edith Schaeffer are the ones who, through the years, flocked to L'Abri & absorbed their wisdom and direction. A dear friend of ours has fond memories of L'Abri and Francis Schaeffer and lives his life accordingly.(even named his son after him)
I would not presume to say that I am one of those "real children", because I am not worthy to be called his child. But I will boast that Francis Schaeffer, possibly more than any other Christian, is responsible for my faith. Hopefully one day his son Frank(y) will return to practicing the faith of his father and mother, and of those "real children" that they birthed through L'Abri.
In his youth my fiancee’ spent a great deal of time with Francis and Edith Schaffer at L’Abri and he became close with them. He said they were two of the most stellar people he had ever met.

Agreed. But as we know, salvation is by grace, not by blood.
We can name numerous Christian leaders whose children, for no obvious reason (i.e., family problems, hidden hypocrisy, etc.) have gone astray.
