I agree totally with all of this Cardinal’s responses. But, I also find it fascinating if this interview were to be authentic. So, I will express doubts until I see proof of authenticity.
I was able to access the site when I first clicked on the Diocese of Salford link you provided. I wanted to send it to a lot of my friends and family.
Then, I tried the site again from your posting and I get an error message. So i googled the Diocese of Salford, found it, went there and cannot find this interview on the site.
I love the interview..but I think it is a hoax.
The link goes to a “404 Not Found” page. Looks like this article was taken down from the Diocese of Salford site; a site search does not come up with it. If you can still find it, please post a specific link.
It was there...and the link was yanked. That is why I asked His Eminence, the RM, to lock the thread.
I found on Google news that the Telegraph had an article about this. They could not authenticate it and thought it must be a hoax, even though they happily published its contents.
I think it is not looking good for the authenticity of this interview.
Salford yanked it. Link now dead. Here is a UK Telegraph analysis of the fact that it is probably a fake.
Fantastic interview! Pity the authenticity stands in doubt.

It can’t have been Chrissy because Bergoglio appears to actually have been given time to speak.
Oops, sorry... didn’t see your retraction.
But, boy, was it ever a great fake! What was the Dan Rather quote about fake but true?
This reads like someone’s idea of what an interview by Chris Matthews of Pope Francis/Cardinal Bergoglio would be like if Matthews were free to go on with the Pope the way he would with a conservative Republican. But it doesn’t read as something that actually happened
Wow...just wow...I hope it is an authentic interview..
Yes. It reminded me of "Whose face is on this coin?"
Sure wish it was real.
Me too! Fake though it may be, I’ve still saved it in a prominent spot on my desktop for constant review, so I can memorize the main ideas in the “cardinal’s” talking points. Lots of good stuff in there.
If it is authentic, then Pope Francis has been listening to Rush! (Some of Rush’s catch phrases, such as “Low-Information Voters” are uttered by the the Cardinal in this interview.) Even so, it was a fun read!
ping babay!
“low information voter”
Makes me think it is a fake interview.
But when the reporter realized he had failed to either discredit Cardinal Bergoglio or find inconsistencies in his views, he abruptly ended the interview & took his marbles and went home.
If authentic, this interview shows Pope Francis to be one tough cookie. Bad news for “progressives”.
