More and more, as I watch the global reaction to this new pope, I remember our Lord's admonition to St. Faustina:

Speak to the world about My mercy ... It is a sign for the end times. After it will come the Day of Justice. While there is still time, let them have recourse to the fountain of My mercy. (Diary 848)

Pope Francis' installation begins as we prepare to celebrate Palm Sunday, followed by Holy Week, Easter and Divine Mercy Sunday. I do not believe in coincidences.

Do you mean the World’s gonna end next week?

That’s a leap, all due respect, NYer.

Remember the lightning hitting St. Peter’s Basilica? I happen to have a little pamphlet on the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and I looked at the picture on the front of it the other day, and in the background, there was a silhouette of buildings, with a zap of lightning coming straight down. So, I looked up what this had to do with anything, and discovered that Faustina had a vision where, IIRC, God’s avenging angel was going to come down and kick @#$ and take names, but she prayed for mercy on the people who would have been hit. Jesus told her to keep praying for mercy, and she noticed that the prayers were plenty powerful enough to hold the threat at bay. I think the next day when she went into the chapel she heard Jesus say to keep it up, especially for people who were dying, and Jesus would be there at their death in a merciful way, protecting them, not condemning them.

I think this does seem apropos to the current time, and the disposition of the new pope.
