” New Evangelization” What’s they talking about? I keep seeing this term, but I don’t know what it means.

Have been meaning to define that myself.

After skimming the article Vladmir sent:

“When the pope talks about evangelization that is new he states “evangelization can be new in its ardor, methods and expression.”9 It must be adapted to the people of our day.”

from the article stands out as definitive.

It’s a redefinition in order to give Catholic lay people an urging to and a permission to evangelize, to let others and even non practicing catholics know that Jesus saves, especially in this time when it is so necessary after having so much Catholic Lite, as Weigel puts it, which has not worked.

By the pope, the article and Weigel, state, this message has gone back to Leo XIII (pope, from 1878 to 1903) who worked to “encourage understanding between the Church and the modern world” and Paul VI in the 1960’s,and was brought to attention by John Paul II.
