” I was under the impression that that ‘John Allen’ character is inevitably always wrong. And misleading. Like on purpose.

His only way to draw any attention - like trying to create some fuss or other over scandalous nothings. Pitiful.
Surely fishwrap. “

I was not relying on my impressions. I dont read him - waste of time.

What I said was based on what I have read that has been said about him and the places his junk appears in.

Also the thread author, who is reliable, pointed that out pointedly. Allen and his junk > fishwrap. > National ‘catholic’ Reporter.

The GOOD , Catholic, paper is: National Catholic REGISTER

It’s rather foolish to so assuredly condemn what you don’t, by your own admission, know anything about.

Allen is solid. Even the source of your Fishwrap label for the NCR, Fr. John Zuhlsdorf respects John Allen’s work.

Ignorance is bliss, they say.

we've been told for years that giving Law a cardinalship and sending him to the Vatican was his punishment

Law was a cardinal long before the abuse scandal broke, so that certainly wasn't his punishment. And his assignment was as archpriest of a Roman basilica, a largely ceremonial role. It's not in the Vatican.

I stand corrected.

Ignorant atheists and hack comics won’t let this stop them from hurling their remarks. But it’s good that Francis is being so decisive about this.
