Those that call themselves Catholic like Biden and Pelosi that support abortion, contraception, gay marriage, and all manor of sinful evil behaviors that are against life, against marriage and the family, and are apposed to God and the Gospel message. No, these people are not Catholic and already left the church and have no right to claim to be Catholic in any poll.

Well, boo-freepin-hoo.
Those polled Catholics have a lot of crying and whining to do.
God forgive them and help them.

After seeing the obviously defective preaching and teaching of the American Catholic church in regard to Catholic doctrine, no American cardinal should ever be trusted with the papacy.

Yes, Im sure they polled the millions of Catholics nationwide. Right. /sarc That polling of Catholics was done in the 2008 and 2012 elections, the results were pro-Obama.

These "Catholics" are the ones that go to church on Christmas and Easter, never support the church and then complain because they can't get a good seat. They're also the ones who leave right after communion.
Let's all not forget this is a Washington Compost poll.

I think the technology is there to poll people to determine moral truth on the fly. Maybe restrict the polling to current political, academic and entertainment elite. Send updates to people’s iPhones, so they can be reassured that their moral choices are the currently most popular ones. Is that what a “modern church” would be like?
To: daniel1212
Change to another church, all y’all. There are plenty out there.

"Those polled Catholics have a lot of crying and whining to do."Sure do but Jesus didn't say it would be easy to follow him. Those that find it easy, just discard the tough parts.

The Church follows the teachings of Jesus Christ not public opinion polls. My old Baltimore Catechism listed an excessive reliance on "Public Opinion" as a violation of the First Commandment. "Public Opinion" is not God; "Public Opinion" does not determine truth; Truth is not subject to a popular vote.
The Church does not look to "Public Opinion", or to popular votes at annual conferences to determine Truth.
Protestantism, OTOH, is the poster child for determining (supposed) "truth" by popular sentiment.

The polling of Americans was done in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012.
With ONE exception (2004), a majority of Americans who could be bothered to vote, voted for a communist.
Are you an American, ansel12?
Yes?
That makes you part of a group that continuously and consistently votes for communists.
Congratulations!

Amen. I cannot wrap my head around those who think the Church needs to ‘change’. God's word has not changed. It is what it is and if a person cannot live their life they way God instructs, they're not right with The Lord!

About a third say they want to keep the priesthood male and unmarried. Well, I am certainly part of that one-third. Also, no contraception, no abortion and no gay marriage. I always have been and always will, remain solid on all those.

Yeah, in almost everyone of those years with the exception of 2004, the Catholics voted mostly for the pro-abortion democrat.

And again, in all but one of those years the Americans voted mostly for a pro-abortion, gun-grabbing, tax-raising, government expanding, eco-freak communist.
Deal with it.

The atheist, Catholic, homosexual, etc. vote, outnumbers the Protestant vote, the Protestants always vote against the democrat.

If you don't like the Church, please by all means leave. By definition being Roman Catholic is difficult, sin is always easier and more fun than goodness, that is why we are all fallen. The Roman Catholic Church is not a club, it is a bastion of faith and moral teachings. They do not rule by consensus. To all, I had meant to add that the MSM really wants the Catholic church to officially change, and all conservative Prots as well, but as for the accuracy of polls, as seen by the supplementary provided link , survey after survey (including Catholics sponsored ones) year after year has shown that Catholics are substantially liberal overall, and typically much more than their evangelical counterparts, including weekly Catholic attended (search weekly).
Some have assumed that i was a liberal Catholic and posted this as furthering change, and suggested i leave, but i left over 25 years ago and am a conservative evangelical, well known to most RC FR apologists here. And have lived in predominately Catholic and liberal areas all my life, and seek the salvation of all, no matter what they are, while being quite conscious of my own need for better holiness of heart and in deed.
