Free Republic can no longer post Salt Lake Tribune based threads...but we can still link to them. Just last week, the Trib ran this very significant article:
In other words, Mormons are attending Christian church services during Holy Week! (And they love the services there!)
To understand this, you have to understand the backdrop -- the vacuum of Jesus and the cross within Mormonism:
1. BYU study: Disconnect between Mormons and Easter
In this article, published by the Mormon church owned Deseret News, it said that Easter has only 'lightly more planning than the Fourth of July,'
2. Preparing for Easter through Holy Week
From this article: While the LDS community does not formally observe Holy Week, the period from Palm Sunday to Easter morning Suddenly I realized that my observance of Easter was rather pale by comparison
For a fresh thread, see: Easter essays ['In the LDS church it never really hit me what Jesus did for me']

Few Mormons wear crosses, depicting their aversion to it. For more on this, see:

17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the otherThis is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself lying on my back, looking up into heaven.
You are a hateful bigot!

I for one am thoroughly enjoying Mark’s graphics...leave him alone, MormonDude!

He's a Pope, Jim, not a chiropractor.
Thank you for the intervention. My feelings on MormonDude are well known, as are my feelings on the company he keeps:
Sorry this is very old, but I appreciate your sincerity.
LDS members believe that Jesus is the Son of God the Father and that he maintained his birthright through obedience to God the Father’s commandments.
LDS people simply believe that if we follow Jesus, we should also follow his example by keeping God the Fathers commandments.
Its like Paul said .... it is by grace we are saved after all we can do.
“Its like Paul said .... it is by grace we are saved after all we can do.”
That’s not a quote that exists in the New Testament.
Here’s what Paul said on false Gospels that differ from the one he delivered:
Gal 1:6-9 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: (7) Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. (8) But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. (9) As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
No matter how much you repeat it, Christians knowledgeable on Mormon doctrine and the scripture will never accept Mormon claims of being fellow Christians. You waste your time trying to get us to do so.
Oh??
It sounds SO easy....
Are there not a few COMMANDMENTS of thge LDS religious organization you HAVE to keep as well??

Sounds like Headquarters has failed to teach the lesson of Galatians chapter 3.
God is our Heavenly Father, and like any parent He wants us, His children, to be happy. In the scriptures, He teaches "my work and my glory [is] to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" (Moses 1:39). Eternal life means to live in heaven, in His presence, with our families, forever. God has given us commandments, which teach us what is right and wrong and chart a way through life that will offer the greatest happiness. Jesus Christ taught, "If ye love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15). But the scriptures also teach that "no unclean thing can dwell with God" (1 Nephi 10:21). As hard as we try to live good lives, we all sin, so how can we live in Gods perfect kingdom if we are imperfect?
God sent Jesus Christ to earth to give us a way to overcome our sins and imperfections. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16).
They succeeded in killing Joseph, but he had finished his work.He was a servant of God, and gave us the Book of Mormon. He said the Bible was right in the main, but, through the translators and others, many precious portions were suppressed, and several other portions were wrongly translated; and now his testimony is in force, for he has sealed it with his blood. As I have frequently told them, no man in this dispensation will enter the courts of heaven, without the approbation of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jun.Who has made this so?Have I?Have this people?Have the world? No; but the Lord Jehovah has decreed it.If I ever pass into the heavenly courts, it will be by the consent of the Prophet Joseph. If you ever pass through the gates into the Holy City, you will do so upon his certificate that you are worthy to pass. Can you pass without his inspection? No; neither can any person in this dispensation, which is the dispensation of the fulness of times. In this generation, and in all the generations that are to come, everyone will have to undergo the scrutiny of this Prophet. They say that they killed Joseph, and they will yet come with their hats under their arms and bend to him; but what good will it do them, unless they repent? They can come in a certain way and find favor, but will they?

Paul - Nephi who cares?
It’s and easy mistake to make!
