If this new Pope name is “Peter the Roman” that might be interesting.

And for those well-versed in the language of brimstone and fire, the signs could not have been more transparent when just hours after Benedict announced he would abdicate, a bolt of lightning struck St. Peter’s Basilica, the very heart of Christianity

The heart of Christianity is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and His blood and body sacrifice for our sins--not St.Peter's Basilica.

On examination, the supposed prophetic visions of St. Malachy are hard to credit. There is no contemporary account or evidence for them, and the only source is the claims of a commercial work published many years after the visions are said to have taken place. Moreover, at best only strained connections can be made between the visions and the Popes who came after the publication. In short, facts and reason fairly lead to the conclusion that the supposed visions were an invention designed to capitalize on the public’s often uncritical hunger for that sort of thing.

Actually, 1 is sufficient ... 'It is not an approved apparition, and the evidence is consistent with it being a forgery composed around 1590.'

“According to an ancient prediction, this next pope will be the last.”

That’s what they said about the last Pope. But eventually they’ll get it right if they keep hedging their bets.

I think Peter the Roman simply is a pope that will be strong on doctrine.

I think they should seal the decision in an envelope and let Michelle Obama read it for everyone to hear. LOL

I think it is more likely that America has elected its last president.

What has Notredamus to do with it? If the cardinals are about to elect the last pope, so be it — there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Hasn’t Christianity prayed for the Lord’s return in glory from the very beginning when the Roman persecutions started? There must have been many Christians in nazi deathcamps who prayed for the Lord’s return then and there.

How often have we read FReepers expressing their desire for the “final solution” although it was meant entirely different from the way the nazis wanted it to be?

“Lighting strikes the basilica of St.Peter’s dome in Vatican City during a storm on Feb.11, 2013, the same day Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation.”

.
Big deal — that’s why we place lightning rods on tall buildings. The basilica has probably been struck many times before and will be many times more.

It’s the weather and global warming. (heh, heh)

If the new pope elected is a “reformer” and changes Church teachings on the basics of abortion and homosexuality, he could be the last pope as we know it because a great schism
could occur.

The end of the world is coming. And we are ALL going to die.

I don’t know the time or day. But eventually our sun will go out with one hell of a bang and fry everyone on the planet.

A lot could happen between now and then.

I don’t think I will worry too much about it all.

No, no, no, no!

Not “if you believe Nostradamus.” Rather, “if you believe yet another ridiculous, stupid claim by hysterical nutcases about what Nostradamus wrote.”

>> And in Malachy’s vision, the last pope – who will soon be elected – is described this way: “in extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman…” <<

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong!!! That was added to Malachy;s prophecy centuries later!
