With African Catholic Cardinal Peter Turkson in the running as the next pope, the media have noted that he carries the fancy title of the president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, an arm of the Vatican. But they have failed to note the existence of a left-wing lobby in the U.S. working feverishly on his behalf. It is the same group of radicals, with connections to billionaire hedge-fund operator George Soros, who backed Obama for president by claiming he shared their Catholic values.
One of Turksons chief supporters in the U.S. appears to be Stephen Schneck, an associate professor of politics at the Catholic University of America (CUA) and a top official of Catholics for Obama. He runs CUAs Institute for Policy Research & Catholic Studies and holds conferences featuring left-wing and liberal speakers.

A friend and I were talking this evening and both of us are betting we will get a black Pope.
I only hope he is Conservative and not connected to Soros.
The Church needs an exceptional leader now more than ever.
This Papacy is critical.
I have always thought that Christianity had a socialist tinge to it. But on more of a volunteer basis.
Orphanages, hospitals, soup kitchens, education for the poor, are some examples of taking donations from the wealthy to help the less fortunate.
Peter the Roman.
Oh well.
Pope Benedict Gay Blackmail Allegation May Be More Than Just Speculation
Turkeson was popular a couple years back for this very reason, “He could be the Obama Pope!”
Then he came out condemning homosexuality, and the media’s interest dropped like a rock.

Your link leads to an article that cites the Guardian....a filthy Marxist rag.I stopped reading right there.
Really? I thought he was going to be a white middle class ‘primate’ from Long Island? We were going to call him Pope Suburban I?
Not the from the wealthy, from Christians, people, all people, even the poor.
They don't take donations, they accept donations.
Doesn’t matter anyway. This is the last pope. The world is finally winding down.
The former is completely at the discretion of the giver, the latter under duress.
Don't confuse heartfelt charity with Socialism.
Accept donations, that's what I meant. Thanks for clarifying.
I did mention that it was on a volunteer basis. What I was trying to say is that they both purport to do similar work, that is help those in need. The major difference being that Christian organizations are trying to help people and socialist organizations are pretending to do it to gain power and wealth for themselves.
To some people, even some Christians, it is understandable that they might confuse the two. While trying to do good for the needy, they may inadvertently do the dirty work of the socialist's agenda.
On a scale of 1-10 where 10 is the most conservative/traditional/principled Catholic, he would easily be a NINE or TEN.
I have not understood why Turkson is even considered a papabile. I’ve guessed that it’s because people are just inserting him into the papabile hole left by Arinze (and before him Gallantin). Is it just Soros pumping his name through the media? If so, it’s entertainingly futile. Stephen Schneck has no clout among bishops. On the other hand, the Catholic church is dogmatically pro-union, but anti-socialist.
If Turkson is economically liberal as this article describes him, he’s a follower of Benedict XVI, who has not been heretical by supporting socialism, but does seem to find comfort in big government and international organizations, in spite of the Catholic principle of solidarity.
