Interesting, and frightening.

"Cardinal Turkson has said that "if God would wish to see a black man also as pope, thanks be to God". The Catholic Church chronicler Rocco Palmo called Turkson the lone Scripture scholar in the Pope's "Senate" and believes that his status as a potential "papabile " has been elevated due to his appointment as spokesman for Second Synod for Africa in 2009."

Cardinal Peter Turkson of Roman Curia

Cardinal Turkson: “For me to attack Islam would be to attack my own family”

Homosexuality: In 2012, in response to a speech by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urging Church leaders to do more for human rights and in particular gay rights in Africa, Turkson, while recognising that some of the sanctions imposed on homosexuals in Africa are an “exaggeration,” stated that the “intensity of the reaction is probably commensurate with tradition.” “Just as there’s a sense of a call for rights, there’s also a call to respect culture, of all kinds of people,” he said. “So, if it’s being stigmatized, in fairness, it’s probably right to find out why it is being stigmatized.” He also called for distinction to be made between human rights and moral issues.[29]

The list ends with a pope identified as "Peter the Roman", whose pontificate will allegedly bring the destruction of the city of Rome and the beginning of the Apocalypse.

In the end, it is up to the Holy Spirit to make the final decison. As the saying goes, Cardinal Turkson could go in thinking he is the next Pope, but he very well ends up being just a cardinal.

The majority of the Cardinals prefer some system other than Capitalism IMO.

Or all this could be a sign that the global south branch of the Christian faith is now starting to “flex” its muscles.

I would be very skeptical of an article that gives any credence to the made up prophecies of St Malachy.

Look, on FR we don’t trust what the MSM says. Why are so many FReepers swallowing this Turkson boomlet?

It’s a deliberately manufactured effort to sway the electors and it won’t have ANY effect on them.

The MSM and elements within the Church want to puff him up so that when he is not elected (as he WILL not be), they can accuse the Church of Racism and Euro-centrism.

Turkson has taken himself out of the running by openly campaigning for the office. That shows, quite apart from his being from the Justice and Peace tinfoil brigade of the Church, that he
just
doesn’t
get
it.

Anyone who isn’t scared silly of the prospect of being chosen is a bad choice. Anyone who actually wants the office doesn’t have clue about what the Office of Peter is.

Turkson did himself in with his foolish interview in the Telegraph. That demonstrates not only that he’s unfit because he’s campaigning for the office but that he’s not even smart enough, as a campaigner, to know that the best way not to get elected is to openly campaign for it.

Keep your eye on Cardinal Ranjith of Sri Lanka.

The front runner to be the next pope is this man, Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson.

Says who? By what criteria? Statements like that are pure nonsense!

next Pope has strong ties to the creation of a global economic system, as well as being a prime candidate to an ancient Catholic prophecy suggesting he would help lead the world into a new order.

In the prophecy, he gives all the churches power over to the Antichrist. He will see as, and call, the Antichrist God. He will even publicly deny Christ. He will be far, far, far to the left. This leads to the destruction of the Catholic church, and eventually to the destruction of the world as we know it (Armageddon - Israel defending itself from the armies of evil).

The last pope will complete the evil trilogy. The Antichrist, some kind of prophet, and the apostate church.

It's like we're witnessing prophecy right before our eyes. The Antichrist, (who Pope John Paul said was alive and well years ago, and waiting in the wings), will enter onto the political stage as a man of peace, but will greatly strengthen the enemies of Israel. We're witnessing that right now.
The Antichrist will want everyone to share, and be he rich or poor, free or bond, will not be able to exceed his fair share because of a "mark" located inside a hard tissue area (like the back of the hand or the forehead. That way the computer chip - called Digital Angel (ironic) - will not get lost in the soft tissue).
The Antichrist will be a man who sins and advocates sin, and will be a man of perdition. He will lead an army consisting of every unclean bird of the earth - people with every kind of moral rot one can think of.

The Antichrist will hide his true self for the first 3.5 years, but his second 3.5 years he will expose who he really is.

Turkson is the media anointed Pope.

But it ain’t going to happen.

Here is the next Pope if the Cardinals want some sort of continuity with Benedict’s principles (which I think they do):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelo_Scola

Angelo Scola (born 7 November 1941) is an Italian Cardinal of the Catholic Church, philosopher and theologian. He was appointed Archbishop of Milan by Pope Benedict XVI on 28 June 2011. He had previously served as Patriarch of Venice since 2002. He was elevated to the cardinalate in 2003.

After the death of Pope John Paul II in 2005, Scola was considered to be among the papabili in the 2005 papal conclave.

Many Bishops supported him vigorously in 2005 to succeed John Paul II because they saw him as the only man who might reverse what Vatican insiders see as the decay of European culture.

The conclave of course, elected Joseph Ratzinger as Pope Benedict XVI.

I see no reason why the Cardinals would not want some sort of continuity. Scola is the CLOSEST to this.

I discussed this with my best friends gorgeous Polish wife...he’s Catholic too...I’m Southern Baptist but not chauvanistic about denominations (like some folks here)

that is exactly what she said...a black Pope could be a sign of end times

in any event he will likely be a Tutu liberal

after two stellar Popes...all in the name of cater to minorities*

course that is the only place Catholicism is growing..third world browns and blacks

Very strange for a cardinal to be campaigning for the position of pope.Who is he to say its time for a third world pope? One would think the voting cardianls will see through this campaign. Turkson has advocated a new world order with a single currency, that’s enough for this guy. Maybe its time to go back to a paisano.
