(CNSNews.com) Nicholas DiMarzio, the Catholic bishop of the diocese of Brooklyn, N.Y., says that in his zealous support for abortion, President Barack Obama has used his position not to help mothers and children in difficult circumstances but instead has been an advocate for that which is shameful and criminal in the eyes of Almighty God.
In his column for the diocesan newspaper The Tablet, entitled Deeper Into the Culture of Death, Bishop DiMarzio praises Abraham Lincoln, the abolition of slavery, and notes how far the nation has come in electing Obama as president. DiMarzio also notes the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Courts Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy and how Obama has promoted that decision.
The so-called pro-choice movement has its roots in the ideology of Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, who understood her call to be one who would assist the race toward the elimination of the unfit, states Bishop DiMarzio. Of course, a young Barack Obama was precisely the sort of unfit child that Sanger and her allies would want to eliminate.

Response: A statement of the obvious.
Good words - but nothing about nationalized healthcare, or amnesty for illegals, or confiscatory taxation?
You need to watch TBN for that.
That needed to be said in every church from every pulpit at every Mass for about three months leading up to the election.
Perhaps.
But I think those that don’t know this, that don’t know the Church’s firm position on it, are either not paying any attention or don’t care.
“Good words - but nothing about nationalized healthcare, or amnesty for illegals, or confiscatory taxation?”
A criticism not entirely without merit much of the time, but much less so this time, as the bishop alludes to the fundamental crux of the HHS mandate:
“’We know that, today, an administration that is hostile requires contraception and sterilization,’ states the bishop. ‘However, as government involves itself in our internal affairs, there is little doubt in anyones mind that the government would seek to compel religious institutions to provide abortion services in the future.’
Not as eloquently or clearly stated as I'd like, but he understands that when government controls, government compels.

The Catholic voters guide that I got emphasized the need to vote for candidates who stood for “social justice” and higher minimum wage laws. The Catholic voters guide was about 85% pro 0bama and I think about 85% of the Catholic clergy and bishops voted for 0bama. Was this bishop campaigning against 0bama last fall? I bet he wasn’t.
You are probably right but we must all work together to defeat Obama on this Religious Freedom issue.2013 will provide plenty of opportunity to show who has courage on the Religious Freedom issue.Cardinal Dolan surprisingly just issued a strong statement to his dinner guest ,Obama on this issue. There is hope. Let us all pray.
