The battle over gun control has exposed a truth the mainstream media is apparently too shy to mention: A bunch of far right white mostly southern paranoid extremists are preparing for armed revolution and apocalypse. They speak treason: literally.
They are preparing to defend America from America with arsenals of weapons and stockpiles of ammunition. Their enemy is everyone in America not like them.
They think the world is ending and/or that the government is out to get them. That doesnt mean it will happen. But expect violence and assassinations. Their ideology is made up of equal parts racism, evangelical Christian fascination with the end times, hatred of president Obama, resentment of the Old South variety and a Fox News/Glenn Beck/Rush Limbaugh version of world history. As the New Yorker noted:
Every demographic and political trend that helped to reëlect Barack Obama runs counter to the [Souths] self-definition: The Solid South speaks less and less for America and more and more for itself alone Solidity has always been the Souths strength, and its weakness. The same Southern lock that once held the Democratic Party now divides the Republican Party from the socially liberal, fiscally moderate tendencies of the rest of America The Souths vicesviolence, intolerance, aversion and suspicion toward new ideasgrow particularly acute during periods when it is marginalized and left behind. An estrangement between the South and the rest of the country would bring out the worst in bothdangerous insularity in the first, smug self-deception in the second.
The Republican/white/southern extremists make reasonable gun control impossible. Their cataclysmic irrationality risks taking the debate into the twilight zone, and that zone is a zone of violence: call it the civil war continued by other means...

It’s all jimmuh cata’s fault. He let this slimy bunch of cowards come slithering back in, after Vietnam. And, now they all think they are intellectuals who are so above us that they can pass judgement. Then, as now, all they can really pass is gas.
My name isn’t Frank Schaeffer.
Waco victim
At least the Nazis tried to kill them first.
No, I think we learned that lesson already.
Sounds like projection to me. I think you’ll find old school types in more of a defensive posture.
As far as “who will they kill?”
Must be talking about democrats ...
The five worst mass killings have a common thread.
Hint #1: they don’t belong to the NRA.
Ft Hood~~~ Registered Democrat ~ Muslim
Columbine ~~~ Too young to vote; both families were registered Democrats and progressive liberals
Virginia Tech ~~~ Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff ~ Registered Democrat
Colorado Theater ~~~ Registered Democrat; staff worker on the Obama campaign; Occupy Wall Street participant; progressive liberal
Connecticut School Shooter- ~~~ Registered Democrat; hated Christians.
Common thread is that all of these shooters were progressive liberal Democrats.
Also, of the worst killings in the last several decades, only one was a female, all the rest were boys, barely men, and none of them had a strong male father or role model in the household. Their role models were rappers, action movies, comics and violent video games.
Our problem isn’t weapons, it’s boys without boundaries who live in ‘progressive’ households.
Then let us go this time, no more Marching to the Sea. Just let us go. End the occupation. Create your socialist utopia above the Mason-Dixon. We will be fine.
No, I don't think this is satire.
Frank Schaeffer, the late Francis Schaeffer's wayward son. He has "issues". He's living his live in intense reaction to anything he grew up with.
That could be your son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter.
Good to know the Left is against treason. I suppose loyalty oaths will now be "cool?"
I wonder too, how many of them were “medicated” for some behavioral problem. No one seems willing to consider the possible connection.
Matt- See this? Another proxy in O’s camp.
The blogger’s article reads like a psychopath’s cut and paste ransom note.
I did not know that. Well, then...
Thanks, y'all!
Oh by the way - the author is certifiable.
Just looked in my bathroom mirror. Nope. Don't see it. Y'all.
All right people. Did a little research on the "author's" background.
Here is an excerpt from his father's bio-Francis August Schaeffer.
A number of Christian leaders, authors, and evangelists credit Schaeffer's ideas with helping spark the rise of the Christian Right in the United States and were strongly influenced by him. Among them are Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry, Focus on the Family's James Dobson, the 700 Club's Pat Robertson, Prison Fellowship's Charles Colson, columnist Cal Thomas, preacher and author Tim LaHaye, former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris, and Liberty University and Moral Majority founder Jerry Falwell.[2]
And this:
Francis Schaeffer's son: Dad 'worse' than Obama's pastor
Hmmmm.... I think I smell an extremist
And now you know how a 12 year old reasons...
Somewhere along the line, after his father passed away (1983?), "Franky" lost his faith, or the faith of his father anyway, but obviously none of his venom.
That's not to say all he imagines isn't actually the case. I'm certain that it is, certainly at least a part of the kind of stew one should expect when the Rule of Law regresses again to the Rule of men, or of a man.
If those who derive whatever authority they might presume to have from the Constitution decide that document no longer means what it plainly says, all kinds of subjective reasoning is likely to come to the surface.
What does Franky hope to accomplish with this latest diatribe? Does he advocate stirring up a million Wacos? Is his the cry of liberal despair?
It's not enough that those whom conscience dictates they accede to liberal ascendancy, they should also desire to leave a tip for the executioner and stick their heads laughingly into the noose.
(I still say it's spinach, and I still say to hell with it.)
