"How differently would the church pray if we really believed we are at war with the kingdom of darkness? How differently would we live and act in this world?"

In other words, we are in the middle of an ongoing “spiritual war”.

Some of us Christians do know this, and do pray accordingly.

Interesting to see a thread begin with a poem from Yeats tonight; I have spent the last three days reading L.T.C. Rolt's autobiography "Landscape Trilogy," and learned that he took Yeats very much to heart.

(Rolt is not well known in the U.S., which is a pity... he had the rare gift of making the history of British engineering not only readable, but enjoyable.)

Anyway, my family and I have no illusion as to who controls the levers of power in the US at this time, so yes, we have changed our prayers and our priorities though others close by cling to a belief system rooted in nothing beyond what they are fed by the culture.

Humanism is the respectable name for it. American elitists have been working to impose it upon our people for a long time.

The kingdom of darkness exists in the hearts and souls of mankind.

It always has.

We are either given the tools and weapons we need to wage that battle within ourselves by our parents, or we are not.

It matters a great deal what morals and beliefs they instill in us. It matters if parents take their children to church. It matters if children believe in God, and it matters if children believe that they will be held accountable for actions taken in life after death.

These belief systems are formed at an early age, and they may also be forgotten during tumultuous years, but they will return.

It matters if men and women can govern themselves when no one else is looking. Knowing the difference between right and wrong matters.

If one looks at our society, one can see that all of those tools and structures are being systematically removed by evil people who want the results that are now clearly visible.

I’m not sure how this can be remedied, because the people that lived this way have died, are dying, and will die, and they are being replaced in large numbers by people who believe in what appears to be the Seven Deadly Sins.

I’m not a religious person, but I know of no other way to frame this.

In God we trust no longer applies to this country.

The motto of America should be:

In lies we trust.

Good article. Like the author, I don’t understand why anyone is shocked by evil acts, any more than I understand why people are shocked by natural disaster. This is the human condition.

Good thread.

Most people have considered this to be a Christian nation for so long that it seems to have become a gospel of some sort.

The Bible tells us that we are not of the world and we are not running the world.

However religious organizations have went right along with the world in cutting the trees down because they thought they were the evil instead of the wind, and were a threat to peace and safety although i don,t like to use wind as evil because the wind is not evil, but i get the point.

Our journey through this life is not to straighten up this world but to give us a chance at the eternal life that is promised us.

Mat ch 7
1
Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

6
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

7
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

12
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
