While the possibility of Vulcan being a derivative of Tubal-Cain is interesting, I’d have to see evidence that, in the original languages, this could be so.
I don’t have any evidence at hand, that not being my burden for this article.but passed along that little bit that I had heard. I should have said,”It is believed by some” but thought that “it is believed...” already inferred by some.
Vulcan was his Roman counterpart.
Remember, the oldest Bible stories predate the existence of the people who put those stories into the Bible ~ and most have undergone some transformation by being translated from one language to another many different times.
Some of them are like Ma-Nu ~ part of a nearly world wide literary tradition. Then there's The Great Fish image ~
Since we know we don't have a really good compendium of all human literature back to the beginning of the big melt down of the great glaciers about 20,000 years ago, nor do we have a really good fix on the words they used, it is as reasonable to think Tubal Cain has a common origin with Vulcan, as to not think that.
So, marrying one sister was ok but two, or more was not?
Thanks Bratch-
I agree but can’t see what you are sayng to me brother.
Just part of Gods plan/predictions for the end times. God gave us the intellect to create. He knew that we could eventually do anything once we sinfully found the knowledge. But everything we will/have created would exclude him. Just goes back to the message that this world is a temporary existence. No matter what we do or create it’s all foolishness to God because it leaves out him and our eternal partnership with him.
It goes back to my childhood in the Church. Our preacher got on the bandwagon over the moon landings that were popular talk back in the early 70’s. He thought it was great for our country and so on, but he asked us to imagine the advancements we could have made with Gods guidance, that is if Adam and Eve and not sinned. His view was that “ mans dominance over the Earth” which God had given Adam and Eve included the physical Universe. Instead of the Moon we might have been populating the stars by now.
I gotcha, thanks for the insight.
That is correct. Monogamy was to be practiced. As far as marrying ones sister, that was a given being as to how the race had not progressed to the point of cousins and distant cousins. The bloodline was still pure enough to allow for it without the genetic defects in todays times.
No problem.
I was a mythology nerd in high school. I’ve forgotten most of it; however, it always intrigued me that the ugliest god (Hephaestus/Vulcan) wound up marrying the most beautiful one (Aphrodite/Venus).
While all of this is very interesting I personally feel it is a huge reach. The solution that God gave all mankind to be relieved of the curse, death, if you will was His gift of sending His eternally perfect Son into the world to be punished for our sins. To be resurrected and share eternal life with us if we simply follow Him and obey His commandments.
The solution is still available to all who will partake of it.
I love and hate the book of Genesis at the same time. For every verse I have at least 10 questions that will never be answered.
Well said, JAKraig. Also “Have not our increases in technology, advances in the arts, and in agriculture and defense caused us also to forget that this world is cursed and that thus it is not our permanent home?”, that’s true as well, pastor, however, we were created in the image of the almighty, the CREATOR, we cannot help but create ourselves, given whom we’ve descended from. We reflect His image, His awesome creativity but a spark in us but nonetheless a spark. But we do tend to forget this isn’t our permanent home, I’ll give you that.
Noah showed himself to be a master of all the Cainite “evil” technologies” by building a boat(using God’s plan), harnessing animal husbandry, he could plant vineyards and farms ect....
The world’s first Great Godly Polymath.... whom God used to to preserve humanity!
Joseph was another one!
No one said technology itself was”evil” , rather it is a function of man’s God given dominion over the earth!
That is true, its what I have been saying all along, (that the solution is Jesus), In what way is this all a “huge reach”?
